Welcome back! Today we are working on a John Deere ZTrac 777. This is an older mower, production ran from 2003-2007. They came with a liquid cooled Kawasaki engine model FD750. It is a horizontal shaft, V-twin factory rated at 27 horse power.
At the time it was produced, this unit was considered a premium option in the commercial grass cutting scene. I personally have never been a JD zero-turn fan. After working on this unit, I appreciate JD mowers more than I ever did before. It is beefy! Everything about it is robust and relatively simple. You can tell by how it is packaged it was designed prioritizing serviceability and longevity. Nothing was hard to get to or tucked in a tight spot where it couldn't be reached. Modern units seem to trend to taking up less space. This behemoth does not care, it takes up some space(as much as a small car) but its very easy to work on.
What you will see today is a basic service and a couple minor adjustments to make operation a little more comfortable. There are still some small things I need to order(belts, grease caps, hydraulic filter, etc), if you watch close enough you might notice. They aren't mandatory for residential operation. I'd worry about it more if this thing was running non-stop in a commercial environment.
This mower might be for sale soon so keep your eyes out if you are interested.
Thank you for watching! As always, make sure you like and subscribe! Can't wait to see you on the next one!
