🟣Friday Podcast with Andrea Barrientos:
✳️“I'M SURE MARIACA BOUGHT THOSE VOTES. THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION OF EVERYONE, INCLUDING ME.”
✅The former senator and former Vice Minister of Autonomies joined us on Friday Podcast.
She shared her life story, from her origins in the Valle Alto region and her family ties to President René Barrientos, to her current stance regarding the government of Rodrigo Paz, which she supports with “critical support”:
✅“I don't give him blind support, nor support that makes you say, ‘I'm going to sacrifice myself for the government.’”
✅The election of former Attorney General Roger Mariaca, now imprisoned and accused of links to drug trafficking, was part of the conversation. “I'm sure it's an election for which he bought those votes.” I firmly believe there should be an investigation into all the members of parliament who were present at that session, including myself, all of us.”
✅She maintains that she did not vote for Mariaca, but reveals that she saw one of her colleagues, from her party, chatting with the elected prosecutor.
✳️HER RESIGNATIONS
✅Throughout her political career, Barrientos had to resign twice due to her statements on current issues: first from the leadership of the Citizen Community caucus and second from the Vice Ministry of Autonomies.
✅On both occasions, she received harsh online attacks, but she perseveres because “whoever gets angry loses.”
✳️HER MOST RELEVANT QUOTES
📌Regarding her departure from the government and sexism in politics:
✅“I was a scapegoat, and that’s fine.”
✅“I haven’t said anything that’s a lie; I don’t lie. I believe in the "Politics based on honesty, and if that honesty costs me my job, well, so be it."
✅ "If I shout, I'm crazy. If a man shouts, 'What a man!' what's the logic? I don't understand that."
✅ "What I won't accept is being called incapable."
📌 Her vision for Bolivia and her political future
✅ "I believe that Carlos (Mesa) is the president Bolivia needs, but isn't ready to have."
✅ "Today we don't have an agenda."
✅ "The government's mistake is the lack of clarity in its communication."
