Man that was so sad to see Alex so ill, he was a magician on the table at his best, the demons ruined him, a great player none the less, heartbreaking watching this
Alex signed himself out of hospital to do this , not long after he passed away . It was painful to watch him in this video , but inspiring to see his spirit for the game > RIP Alex and God bless . A true true snooker LEGEND :)
Higgins is the reason the game is so big today. He took it from the smoke-filled snooker halls and the ‘old man’s game’ image purely by his charisma and playing style. Legend!
We have Alex to thank for getting millions interested in snooker in the 70s. He’s the only reason I used to watch it. Also he inspired players like Jimmy and Ronnie. A legend that should be praised and thanked by all of the players for raising the games profile and making them so much money.
It's almost supernatural how Alex still played a good game and some great shots, all things considered. Truly one of the greatest snooker players of all time.
Heartbreaking to see Alex so ill just before he passed. He brought snooker into our living rooms in the 80s. Everybody from your little brother to your granny loved it. What a great break of 101 from Jimmy & what a gentleman he is for standing aside & giving Roy the final black ball, made his day & much more
The kiss he gave JV looks like it meant the world to him (Virgo that is), not only was it a sweet moment of affection but maybe also a subtle goodbye, either way JV looked touched by it
As a snooker fan ..i had the good fortune to meet Alex several times over the years including being sat next to him during a performance of his one man play in 2003 at the crucible studio ..it was a wonderful night Alex was friendly every single time I met him over the years I think apart from being truly gifted as a snooker player he was such an interesting man who remained very true to himself what a lovely moment when he kissed John virgo and Michaela tabb on the cheek before the frame ..I did see Alex after the snooker that night he came to the tables last with his usual newspaper under his arm and a drink in his hand to meet fans and sign some autographs ..snookers number one of all time ❤️
ALEX HIGGINS, he was the greatest snooker player of all time !!! See him in this game brought tears in my eyes, not only his sickness, but also his playing !!! So Alex, goodbye and rest in peace !!! L.M.
Oh Alex this just broke my heart to see you like this - I hate cancer so much and wish you had chosen a better lifestyle years ago. I watched you in your heyday and was so entertained and wish you were still here with us. God bless and keep you, you will always be a true legend for as long as snooker is played and enjoyed by many. You rocked the game and will never be forgotten. ❤️
poor alex its really sad to see he was so sick in this video, he barely even had the strength to hit the ball with any kind of power, thats why he was unable to get the proper position in many of his shots. But he still made some classic higgins shots!
He came in a local pub many years ago, he was on his own. I think he had been to a charity event at a local snooker club and was waiting to be picked up. I was the only other customer in there at the time. He sat reading Racing Post, and had asked landlord if he could be left alone. He didnt look well, and of course I didnt approach him, I respected him. Sad end to a snooker genius.
He put snooker on to everybody's tv back when. He popularized it and made it big. He was the guy we loved and hated but you knew his name and watched every game and read every story in the newspapers. A troubled man but a genius in the game. RIP mate
Yes really sad to see Hurricane Higgins ,not long before he died, looking so emaciated and thin.He died of malnutrition-In the words of his close pal Jimmy White,"In this day and age is a fucking liberty".I agree Jimmy. R I P Alex.
