As a huge snooker fan fo 50 years…1982 will always have a special place in my heart.

It doesn’t get much better than Higgins v White.      Incredible

Golden age of snooker for me (1978/90)

Alex higgings potted every ball like is life depended on it, wow wow wow

Reardon enjoying a twilight to his career in this final having been so dominant in the 70s. Steve Davies was to dominate the majority of the 80s. What a talent Higgins was and 2 world titles to his name was to be proud of and perhaps would have won more had he not has his troubles off the table. Hell of a player and entertainer.

Gutting to see Alex in later years....My fav...

The Eighties was a great era of Snooker. So many great players to watch. My favourite players of that era were Alex Higgins, Jimmy White, Kirk Stevens and Willie Thorne, really exciting and attacking players who gave me so much enjoyment. Thanks for this upload.

Wonderful commentary by Clive Everton for the Higgins v Mountjoy epic in particular. RIP Sir.

"... This may be the break of the tournament"

Wrong. It ended up being the break of a lifetime.

its not just a video but gem in #YouTube...
thanks a lot for uploading sir !

i will always be very very proud to say that i had the pleasure to play the 6 time world champion ray reardon back in 1987 in the 147 snooker club in watford, it was a saturday night old chap walked up to me and said, i have been watching you and you are a very good young snooker player ( i was 16 and moved to watford the previous year) he then asked me if i wanted to play him a few games on table one which was up in a corner of the club away from the others, i said sure no problem, as we entered the table one area i could hear my elder brothers and uncles sniggering behind my back, this made my a little paranoid as i had never met this old chap before and had no idea in the world who he was, we approached table one and he said to me, ok young man we will play the best of 3 frames for 20 quid and i said in my own mind ( easy money lol ) the crowd started to gather around as i broke off in the first frame, the sniggering from my brothers and uncles was starting to get to me a little 😂he beat me very very easy in the first frame, in the second frame i had a slight feeling that he kind of left me win ( i was still over the moon though ) and in the 3rd frame i got about 3 shots 😮i walked over to this man that i had never met before and shook his hand, i then put my hand in my pocket and took out the 20 pound on which he replied, you are ok young man put that back in your pocket, he then told me who he was 😮😮😮😮RIP YOU LEGEND MR RAY REARDON ( THE COUNT ) you were a gentleman and one hell of a player, 2 weeks later i missed jimmy white by 15 minutes when i got there ( just as well lol )

Reardon was quite an attacking player in  his time. He faded very quickly after 1982.

Steve Davis came back from the shock first round loss to dominate the rest of the decade.
Won/Won/ R-Up/R-Up/Won/Won/Won

Reardon was a cool dude

Steady Eddie the comb-over king!

This video is a treasure. Thanks.

I loved Fred David too.

Thanks for the amazing upload!

These days the crowd wouldn’t be allowed to ramble on while a game was in progress on the other side.

I find it interesting that they used mismatched rests in a semi-final of a world championship. In the Reardon-Charlton match, Charlton eyes up the rest at 56:29. You'll notice that it has one of those cheap, white plastic rest heads. However, about six minutes later in the same frame, Reardon uses the rest from the other end of the table (102:23) and you'll notice that it's a proper brass rest with the black plastic feet. You'd expect something like that on a club table, but not at the Crucible! Kinda strange. Great video though. Thanks for the upload.
