"Maybe quit" is amazing.  I kind of love it?

"Maybe Quit" is being added in every app I write from now on :D

The "Maybe Quit" option is amazing. Need more programs with that option.

First time I've ever seen any computer program with a "Maybe Quit" option. Incredible.

Chance based quitting is something I've never seen before.

"Maybe quit" reminds me of a line from The Modern Rogue:

"If we made a list of things you could do, that would be on the list."

That's the nicest monitor and keyboard a Tandy 1000 has ever known.

Fill your bathtub or a large sink with hot water and dawn. Soak it for an hour or 2, then use a plastic bristle scrub brush to scrub it.  It will get in between all the sand grain.

We had one of these come into the repair shop in the late 90's.  They loved this machine and wouldn't let it go.  The power supply was dead, so we had to special order one from Radio Shack to fix it.

Love old PCs from back in the day where your CPU didn't need a heatsink to keep it from cooking itself.

This was my childhood computer. I'm so glad you showed this.  It takes me back. I'm pretty sure it's in my parents attic too. I'm gonna try and convince my dad to let me take a shot at restoring it!

This was my first computer in 1990! It came with 512k of RAM, which was later upgraded to 768k. It was either a 10 or 20mb hard drive.

The back of that PCB is gorgeous! The shiny copper traces contrasting with the green.

The same year this model launched, 1991, we bought our first IBM compatible computer, a KLH 386SX-20, at Sams Club for right around $1000. A little less than what this Tandy cost. IDK who bought these but they got royally screwed. Even if this is the 8086-1, with 20bit address and 10MHz clock.
Came with 2MB RAM and a 120MB hard drive. The ST-325X is a 21MB hard drive.
Fun fact, you can still buy the AMD N8086-1 as a NOS component from DigiKey. They're about $25.
The Tandy 1000 was literally the netbook of its day.
I'd probably be using dielectric grease to lube that drive.

In elementary school, we had a few labs of these. They were networked with thin-net and ran some educational courseware made by "Jostens Learning Company" from a Tandy 5000 MC with about half a dozen CDROM drives.

My first serious computer was a Tandy 1000 EX with a CM-5 color monitor.  I loved that thing.  I spent hours upon hours upon hours of my life in front of that thing typing in programs, playing Space Quest and Police Quest, and playing Tradewars on several BBS systems in my area. Best days of my computing life.

22:25 - JTS!! Where Atari went to die 😢

I've never heard of a copper coil HDD before, I liked the way it sounded though. As an aside, you'll want to make sure you turn off and empty your air compressor when you're not using it. The compressed air inside of the tank is under enough pressure to separate the water from the air and it'll start filling up with water and eventually it'll start spraying rusty water if you don't drain it when not in use.

30:39 This made my day. Subbed.

8:35 - The board where the cap was, is even smirking at you.
