My boomer dad owned 3 houses had 2 wives and retired at 54. We are both electricians. I have 1 wife 1 house and will work till I drop dead. We lived in totally different economic times.

My dad is a boomer. He said someone making 450 dollars a week can buy a house. When in 1975?

Boomers love a tyrannical authoritarian government.

The only generation that have it better than both their parents AND their children.

Boomers are the last generation that had it better than their parents , from now on it’ll be worse

They basically grew up in a time when you could win a free house at the carnival throwing some darts.

When I was in college back in 2008 I did a paper on how Boomers were the worst generation. My teacher was a Boomer and reluctantly gave me an A. She said I made her aware of her generations shortcomings for the first time in her life. She was in her mid 50s at the time.

We live in a time where you can work 40 hours a week and still be homeless. Boomers NEVER faced that as a problem unless they chose to.

Boomers had it SO EASY, Then they get to sell their 50k home for 400k.

37yo millennial here, I genuinely can’t stand my boomer mothers mentality. She thinks she’s a “rebel” but in reality she’s a narcissist.

So my parents are Boomers. My dad never graduated college (C- averag ein high school) rolled into a job as a loan officer and provided an upper middle class life for our family of 4. Big home, pool, new cars every 3 years, two trips to Hawaii each year and cruises. Retired at 62 with several millions. I graduated college (4.0) and decided to do what my dad did- I stayed in same town and my dad got me hire don at his company. I work 20 hours more a week and have no debt and barely can provide a roof over my head- drive a 10 year old used car, no vacations, no kids, no savings doing the same job- meeting all performance metrics as well as my dad did- same town same company. The only differenc eis it is 40 years later and the work has no value. The purchasing power is zilch. The same job provided a family of four a great life 40 years ago. I will never retire or afford kids or even a house. Suffering in the pain of loneliness and constant fear about my lack of a future and I did everything right.But was born 40 years too late. Same work, same town, same company doesnt support even a frugal single with no debt.

I work in a tourist town, 90% of the people I interact with on a day to day basis is over 70 and talk about their MULTIPLE houses. Meanwhile I'm pulling 50-60 hours a week and can hardly afford all my simple bills

@ninjaswordtothehead 1 year ago

I'm Gen X. I don't hate them because they were successful. I hate them for refusing to acknowledge that things have changed. I hate them for ble6ed the economy dry for their own benefit, often at the expense of their own children. I've seen so many talking smack about younger people being lazy and spend-thrifts, yet they refuse to comment on how their last car purchase was 6 times more expensive than their house.

Of course it's not all of them, but there are enough like that for a generalization to be appropriate.

The boomers thought they could clock out and leave the rest of us with a 40 trillion dollar bill....

@anesthetizedangel4845 1 year ago

The reason they hated is not what they did in the past, it's what they continue to do today. They lectured us and call us names and never admitted any faults or that the world they knew had changed.

The Boomers can be summed up with the phrase, "Give me convenience or give me death!" 😂

Boomers sold out the next 4 generations for 1 more week of not having to think and 1 more cruise TO THE SAME LOCATION EVERY YEAR

My whole life they were told, "we are passing the problems/debts to our grandchildren...", and you voted to keep helping yourselves to triple helpings of our future.

Ya'll did the same thing with unions, finance, education, real estate and the trades. Pulled the ladder up behind themselves after destroying the culture.
