I really like your work Louis. But I think this one is a bit off base. They’re trying to do something, every business needs to make money. Yes they’re trying to Change the levy, but I think they could word and act more honestly.
Once again. I love your work and I have no affiliation with this company at all.

You know you've fucked up when Louis makes a video on the road from a hotel room without his cat.

"We're not ransomware, we are e-waste! See we're not so bad."

Their argument is so asinine. "it's not ransomware they just have to pay $29.99 to keep using their device" Literally the definition of ransomware...

We're not stealing from you, we're just taking your money

Will be filing a complaint. Very ironic Telstra owns a majority stake in Fetch, same people that tried to take media purchases away unless you paid up for another device...

"We built our product so that it doesn't work offline so now we have to charge users for continued usage. Our hands are tied! (By our own actions)"

2 observations:

1. Standard bait and switch service enshittification by the vendor
2. Utter failure by the media team to understand what Louis does and how he will verify every single “correction” you send to him.

When you’re in a hole, stop digging rather than go buy a longer shovel.

"Its not ransomware" Gives me older brother energy "stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself"

Bricking a device because the owner that paid A$300 for it forgot to pay a subscription and it can't be undone should be a criminal offence.

It's funny, the people they accuse of being pirates never steal ransom or threaten people.
Yet they do all of that.
They also take "not taking action" as consent. What was that called again?

"We have decided we will be taking 30 bucks so you can keep using our service. We promise we will never ask this again." I don't believe them for one second, do you?

If you're inaccurate and defaming the company, they'll be sending you legal documents. If they're denying, it's marketing.

Fetch is in breach of ACL according to listing the products as PVR then altering that after the sale to IPTV

"Penalties: Maximum corporate penalties for breaches align with severe ACL standards (up to $100 million or 30% of adjusted turnover)"

I have 2 fetch mightys that we have used to record FTA movies (5 years worth)  that are not available elsewhere without paying.  I am in the process of transferring all those movies from both boxes to an external drive that my smart tv can just play.  The advantage for us was the ability to skip annoying ads that you cannot skip during any streaming.  I don't respond well to threats or removal of service so I won't be paying the extended levy or upgrading those boxes.  Goodbye fetch.

Welcome to today's episode of how you're getting 'Fetched.'

Something similar happened to my old Telstra STB. It could play free to air TV as well as all the 'premium' services just fine, even when I was no longer paying for anything.

Then the service was discontinued by Telstra and they pushed an update that bricked it. It refused to even play free to air TV.

Funnily enough, one of my old spares (which I now knew NOT to connect to the wifi) works perfectly fine for free to air TV! HOW MYSTERIOUS!

Nothing on YouTube makes me smile more while sipping my cup of joe and watching Louis systematically dismantle greedy corporations and the people behind them. Love it!!!!

"AI-generated introduction, copy/paste, and send.  This oughtta shut him up."

Louis is possibly the only guy I've ever met who can give me evidence to think "That other guy might actually have a point..." then immediately proceed to disembowel the point the other guy was talking about.
