As soon as bro said "I want to find a deck with prismatic evolutions" I knew pult (the demon) was gonna come up 😭😭😭

I'm looking forward to the video where he first gets Budew'ed by his opponent

Genuinely the most satisfying thing is building a deck of your own and having it work against real meta decks. In addition, you can go to prereleases for new sets and get packs... FOR MSRP!!! Its aweosme

you can evolve multiple poke in the same turn, just need to make sure that their previous line was in play for a full round first (unless a card specifies this otherwise) 9:57

I learned just playing the tcg live app. Turns out those code cards are actually used for something

For me also wanting to play the game, I am amazed at the thousands and thousands of bulk cards I have, that I went through all my cards at least twice and STILL have cards missing for a competent deck lol. Blows my mind that I have to go to card shops to find bulk despite all the bulk I have.

“It’s this but twice” haha twice-TWICE??? 2:59

Card sleeves would be a good idea if your doing tournaments, you will be shuffling alot.

Knowing how to play the Pokemon TCG game really makes you appreciate the hobby more and it makes collecting cards more fun. I remember that I used to collect Pokemon cards back in the 90’s when I was little, however though as I started middle school, I just got bored because I didn’t know how to play the game. So I just quit but I still enjoyed Pokemon in general like the video games and anime.
Fast forwarding to 2024, I was just scrolling on YouTube until I discovered Pokemon YouTuber PurpleCliff and my gosh not only he became one of my top favorite Pokemon YouTubers but his Pokemon TCG videos are the reason why I got into the hobby again. So I started to collect Pokemon cards when Stellar Crown first came out. And not only that, because of Pokemon TCG pocket and Pokemon TCG live, both these games have taught me how to play and it’s what made me love the TCG more than ever. At first it was great cuz I did managed to find packs in target and Walmart, however though… it was still bad timing for me cuz this is when the scalper situation was slowly growing and eventually it started to become so much worse in 2025, I couldn’t find anything anymore in stores. It makes me regret in quitting the hobby years ago 😭
But luckily for me though is that I did managed to find a local card shop that sells Pokemon cards, they even have bulks of boxes filled with single common cards and it’s great cuz that way it helps me find cards that I still don’t have in my collection! So I only go there like once a month to buy me some cards 😊
And another great way to get cards are in card shows, I went to my first ever card show back in August last year and it was such a fun experience! I’m looking forward to go to my next card show this July! 😄
Also about playing the TCG with yourself, I totally get you! I made my own decks and unfortunately I don’t have many friends who play Pokemon TCG. My childhood best friend does collect Pokemon cards too but she doesn’t have her own deck yet so anytime she comes over, I let her borrow one of my decks. But most of the time I only play on my own, yea it is a little bit boring but at least it lets me practice 😅
But at least with TCG pocket and TCG live I do get to play against other players but I also want to play against other players with the actual cards.
Anyway this is such a fun video you made!! Hopefully you can make more videos in playing the tcg, and! Don’t forget to use sleeves to protect your cards when playing the game! 😊

TCG Pocket is a really fun way to learn, had no idea it was so close to the real game.

instead of buying preconstructed ex decks, I’d recommend buying League Battle Decks instead - they’re a lot more similar to actual competitive decks in the TCG meta. Some of the previously released ones are only a few cards away from Championship-winning decks, with tons of meta cards included :)

6:05 - I'm 54 years old watching you do this, so.....

My favorite Youtube genre is always "a long Pokemon TCG fan plays the game for the first time"

Finally, now even Collecting has a meaning, to have all the most beautiful Deck is always a goal.

I loved this! I have also loved the idea of playing too. Super interesting to hear you’re friend mention about it being similar to pocket, as I’ve played that, so that’s reassuring 😅

Really looking forward to seeing how this series evolves.

Might have to go sort a deck of my own now 😆

Hey LuckyJ! Just wanted to say that your videos are so fun to watch. I enjoyed them so much that it actually gave me the courage to start making my own content. One day you and I will collab 🙏🏾

It obviously hilarious you just accidentally fell into building dragapult, the best deck in the meta right now.

So glad youve finally followed through and are trying it

i would have never guessed seeing a Twice referrence in a Pokemon video, ever.

Been waiting for this.
Not a fan of the TCG myself, nor am I much of a Pokemon TCG guy (more of a magic guy) but love your videos and I just have so much respect for the way you've full immersed yourself into the hobby and culture of the game.
