The Commonplace Book Revolution: How to Apply God's Truth in Your Life

What is a commonplace journal—and why would a Christian woman want to start one? I've been seeing commonplace books and commonplace journaling everywhere lately, and when I began researching this centuries-old practice, I immediately saw a connection to the way we study God's Word, journal our faith, and intentionally remember what God is teaching us.
So I'm beginning a brand-new Tuesday series:
COMMONPLACE JOURNALING WITH PURPOSE — Collecting Truth Worth Remembering
In this first episode, I'll show you how I'm starting my commonplace journal, what a commonplace book traditionally is, what I'm planning to put in mine, and how I'm adapting this practice from a Christian perspective.
My commonplace journal will be a place to collect things such as:
• Scripture I want to remember
• Bible study insights
• Sermon notes
• Christian quotations
• Hymns
• Truths about God's character
• Lessons God is teaching me
• Questions I want to study further
But there's an important difference in the way I want to approach this.
I'm not interested in simply collecting inspirational words or filling another pretty journal.
God's Word is my standard for Truth.
So as I collect ideas, quotations, lessons and wisdom, I want to bring them back to Scripture and ask:
Is this truth worth remembering?
And then:
What does Scripture say?
Why does this matter?
How should this truth change the way I live?
Throughout this series, we'll explore commonplace journaling together and add our own Faithart creativity with handwriting, tags, pockets, old papers, Scripture cards and other pieces from our stash.
But as always, the creativity supports the purpose.

🌿 YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK
Don't buy another journal!
Find a notebook you already have and make one commonplace entry.
Choose one Scripture, sermon insight, Bible study truth, quotation, hymn, or lesson God has taught you.
Write it down and ask:
Why is this truth worth remembering?
