We thought we knew what to expect from the Sahara… endless sand dunes stretching to the horizon, and camels. But the desert we found in Tunisia wasn’t quite that.
Instead, we found ancient Berber fortresses, rugged landscapes and towns full of energy and chaos. Then in Douz, we finally caught a glimpse of the Sahara we had imagined… but the desert had other plans for us.
In this episode we drive from Djerba to Douz via Tataouine. I kid you not, George Lucas named Luke Skywalker’s home planet after this town in the Tunisian desert.
