Hey guys! Something a little different for you all this week; it's Jurassic Park!

Somehow Niamh had managed to never watch a Jurassic Park film up to this point, meaning, we are able to share her first time watching this classic movie!

Jurassic Park is a 1993 American science fiction action film directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen, and starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough. It was written by Michael Crichton and David Koepp, based on Crichton's 1990 novel. The film is set on the fictional island of Isla Nublar, near Costa Rica, where wealthy businessman John Hammond (Attenborough) and a team of genetic scientists have created a wildlife park of de-extinct dinosaurs. When industrial sabotage leads to a catastrophic shutdown of the park's power facilities and security precautions, a small group of visitors struggle to survive and escape the now perilous island.

8:21 "Why do I want to cry?"

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. John Williams.

I was 32 when this came out! So, I was no kid. My best friend came up to me and “Dude! You’ll think the dinosaurs are real!”

To be fair, Dr. Sattler was looking at a leaf because she is a paleobotanist lol

The last few days, I've been going down a rabbit hole of Jurassic Park reaction videos. I'm shocked there are so many people who still haven't seen it, but I'm glad everyone is enjoying it. It's a classic and my favourite movie of all time.

Alan Grant's character arc from disliking children to becoming a protective father figure will forever warm my heart.

"Why am I crying?" Completely normal phenomenon.

We all wanted to cry! No one had ever seen anything like this. It was a clever parallel between the characters in the film and the viewers of the film, when it debuted. We were in awe. I was 13 I think and was so hyped for Jurassic Park. It surpassed every expectation. I have such fond memories of seeing this film

The VFX in this movie were absolutely groundbreaking. When this first came out, everyone was blown away at how good the dinosaurs looked. Obviously VFX have come a long way in the 30+ years since the first Jurassic Park movie, but the effects in the original still hold up really well IMO.

The Big thing to understand about Allan's little speech at 3:20 ish is that the Idea of Dino's being related to Birds was just beginning to get scientific traction when the movie was made, these days it's accepted science, but it was a fringe theory back then.

First reactors I've seen who immediately recognise that the inclusion of frog DNA could cause problems.
The reason Ellie said run at her reunion with Alan was she was instructing her exhausted body to run to the man she loved.

One of my favorite memories from childhood was seeing Jurassic Park in theater.

I cried too. For me, it was, even for a few moments, the first time I saw a real living dinosaur. I have loved dinosaurs since I was a little girl 70 yrs ago.

Ellie was telling herself to run, she twisted her ankle, she's exhausted, she needed to will herself forward a bit.

12:37 I love how you can see Laura Durn break character and get caught up in the scene when the egg hatches and when they see the triceratops.

When this came out I saw it 6 times in theaters as a kid. in 1993. That's how epic it was. When CGI was new and blended beautifully with practical effects. Not completely depended on as it is now. To think Spielberg was making this and Schindler's List at the same time, now THAT'S Chaos. I will never forget feeling the steps of the T-Rex as the water ripples with everyone around me...One of the greatest cinematic experiences in history.
