Real ball knowers know that Montreal deserves a team before any other expansion candidate.  The city didn't abandon the Expos, the league did.

Jeffrey Loria is an actual menace for basically leading the Expos to their eventual demise in just two years and then almost killing the Marlins over the course of a decade in a half after the MLB "rewarded" him with the franchise in exchange for Montreal.

Living in Ottawa, I love seeing Expos gear in the wild. I hope one day god damn it another Major League team is in Montreal

I live in Montreal and you see Expos merch everywhere these days. All the sports and hat shops sell expos hats and jerseys. If I wear my expos hat around town I almost always get compliments on it from usually middle aged and older strangers who love to talk about how they loved going to games back in the day. The passion for the game is still here.

I really think the 94 expos would have won it all if it wasnt for the strike.

Im 35 and up till now, thought the expos turned into the nats in like 93. Then it dawned on me even 2004 was over 20 years ago at this point. Im getting old way too fast

R.I.P MONTREAL EXPOS 1969-2004

8:18 For some more context, Quebec was going through some pretty rough financial times, with hospitals being forced to close across the province, for example, hence why Premier Bouchard didn't want to fund a new stadium. Obviously, it still sucks, but it was more complex than just the Olympic Stadium debt.

Between Ken Griffey, Jr making a run at the Maris record with others, Tony Gwynn flirting with .400, and the Expos, the '94 season really was "The Best Season That Never Was".

The bit about Bartolo Colon reminded me about the Seattle Supersonics. At the time of recording, and before any expansion plans are announced, the last 2 active Sonics players are: Beloved journeyman and recent NBA champion Jeff Green, and war drones investor Kevin Durant

Owner and mlb helped kill the expos. Hard to believe it’s been 21 years since the expos died. I saw something similar happen in Oakland with my A’s but Montreal really got screwed over

I'll never forget the moment the season stopped: August 12, 1994. I was living in Canada at the time, and watching almost every Expos game on television. Montreal was a really fun team to follow and root for. I swore I would never watch baseball again after the strike. But like many other fans, the McGwire - Sosa HR chase lured me back in.

Bring the expos back in the next expansion!

As a Canadian and diehard Blue Jays fan, one who was born after the death of the expos and who does not care for hockey, it’s a shame that I haven’t and probably will never experience what could’ve been such a great Canadian baseball rivalry

As a Nationals fan, I always say we stole the Expos from Montreal. But the fault is not in the fans of either city, the fault lies with the MLB. The fact that Jeffrey Loria was allowed to run one team into the ground and was rewarded with another team to do the same thing astonishes me. Shout out to Pedro Martinez for being apart of the ‘04 World Series winner in Boston and honoring his World Series ring for Montreal, what a guy.

it feels like Guerrero Jr. signing that huge contract for the Jays is like avoiding the tragedy of the Expos being forced to let his dad go in free agency. MLB didn't even give the honour of putting an Expos cap on his HoF plaque

Well I didn't expect to cry on a wednesday morning...
I grew up in Montreal and the Expos were my team.
I remember everything you covered in this video.
I remember sitting in my living room with my dad watching the Expos last game. We were both crying, not capable of holding back our tears as the team we loved was leaving forever.
I was so mad at the time I stopped watching baseball entirely for a whole year.
20 years later, it still hurts to see what could've been.

Thanks for this video SRS, very well done!

As a Nationals fan myself, I've always felt for fans of the Expos. It's never fair when greedy owners and league manipulation rip a team away from fans, the ones who truly love the organization. I can only hope Canada can hang onto the Blue Jays forever.

One of the saddest things about the Montréal Expos is the fact that there are people in their 20's who have spent their entire lives in Montréal that have never been to a  professional baseball game in their city. Not just the Expos, but even a minor league team or an independent league team. The baseball culture there is pretty much dead. That's why I can't see MLB bringing a team back there.
