I never felt that blue suited the warships very well, compared to green or maroon....

Does anyone remember a Warship parked in a siding  at Reading, London end, to the left looking towards London, below the main line. It was there a long time.

Engineers from Maybach came over to look at why their engines were failing. They were appalled by the thrashing the locomotives were receiving.

Both D850 "Swift" and D845 "Sprightly" were not built at Swindon. Also you have dubbed a Maybach engine sound but these locos were fitted with MAN engines which sounded very different.

Forgot to say,  if I remember correctly it was 818- Glory. 832- Onslaught, and 821- Greyhound??.

That very first clip - D850 was an NBL product, built in Glasgow, not Swindon - maybe it was being commissioned. However, the Western next to it has small yellow warning panels which dates it to at least spring 1962, if not later. Actually, I just noticed that Swift has yellow panels too, so this probably dates it to early 1963.

850 was built at the North British Locomotive works not swindon 😢😢

They were NEVER Class 42/3.......NONE of them were renumbered with TOPS numbers.     For those of is who were around at that time, they were called WARSHIPS.
