Ian was my idol from 13 to18. Seeing the Songs from the wood tour in 77 was a key event in my youth. The Pasadena civic was sold out except for one ticket —which I bought and went alone. Thanks Ian for a lifetime of music.

When I first heard JT I was in awe. Still feel that way today. 😎

Thank you for this interview with Ian Anderson.  He just put into words why I liked J Tull so much in the early seventies and onward.  His philosophical beliefs are so well expressed in his lyrics and music.

stand up is on my top 10 deserted island records i'd wish i had with me.

Magic mushrooms depicted as One Footers are the creatures of myth & folklore. Ian Anderson posing as one playing the flute (like Krishna) always struck me as an archetype. I could listen to Jethro Tull every day of my life. Glenn Cornic's bass solo in in "Bourée" is of a timeless beauty & finesse that has  haunt me the rest of my life. Pure magick!

That album was a masterpiece.

I used to wonder how bands like Jethro Tull got to be so amazing and then I read that those guys would practice every day from 9:00 to 5:00 just like a job and it was a bit of a relief to know that like anything great in life they had to work hard for it

Ian is a very together guy, I could listen to him all day.

Thank you Ian!  We love you for your music and for all you have given us!🤟💌

"I believe in possibilities and probabilities." Well said.

Jethro Tull belongs in a place in time of my teenage life that's easy to return to with a song by this genius band.

I've always loved Tull since Benefit! Saw them in 1975 and 1999(?] both times in San Diego.

I picked up and learned to play flute because of this man. ❤

I saw them on the Aqualung and Thick as a Brick US tours. After that they zigged and I zagged.. I became a fairly capable guitar player later but wasn't a stain when I listened to them. Barre, I appreciate much more now than then. I didn't realize what it takes to get his sounds. He got some great recorded tones (and performances of course).

Listening to Ian talk about this being in the band, which is, after you spend a certain amount of time with each other, it starts to turn into "family"...I'm 64, and I was in a band in high school...every single person that was in that I considered as the "original members", Bill, Dan, John, and Matt, I'm still in touch with all of those guys...I consider them brothers...It also makes me wonder if ELO's Jeff Lynne didn't struggle with the "two role" thing, being the writer of most of the songs they did, and producer of that band...

I first heard Jethro Tull in Chicago in 1968, at at a place with no seats, just us HS kids sitting on the floor rams close to the stage as possible. Out came Terry Reid, Bang Bang, out came Jethro Tull, are you kidding me?!!! Nothing is Easy, then out came Led Zepplin! (Unless I’m confusing concerts attended in those days. But I do recall thinking, these are two of the best sets ever, how is led Zepplin going to follow? Whole lotta Love, Communication breakdown. Those were the days. The following day drove down to old town (near the concert the night before.) Ian Anderson, Martin barre and I think the drummer were walking by and my friend and I exchanged greetings and oozed how great they were, and how meaningful it was to hear them last nite. They were then, as now, completely normal, considerate, humble guys. Great music like JT comes from a source. Honored to meet you, sir!!!! Carry on for your loyal fans!!!

Great interview. I could listen to Ian talk for hours. Amazing musician

Thank you,  Mr Anderson for a very interesting interview and fo leading Jethro Tull into greatness.
Your opinions on population are interesting, even as I don't totally agree with them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on such a broad range of issues at a deep level.
In any, event, Mr. Anderson,  you and your band mates have given the world a great gift in your music.
Thank you.

I first bought "Aqualung" In the limbo of the demise of the Beatles and the rock scene in general was losing a lot of spark. I'd like to thank Ian Andreson. That album was a delightful surprise.

In the late '60's and early '70's the record companies had a completely OPEN mind when it came to new music. After the Beatles "Sgt. Pepper" success, they were realizing there were many avenues to selling records. Chrysalis was one example of a company that allowed Ian to do exactly what he wanted, and built there success on that premise...
