Stuck Alone in Makgadikgadi Mud: Days From Help @4xoverland

What started as a paradise trek across Botswana’s iconic Makgadikgadi Salt Pans quickly turned into a what could have been a solo overlander's worst nightmare. Deep in the remote Kalahari, the ground gave way, dropping my Land Cruiser into thick, cloying mud. With no recovery vehicle in sight and days away from civilization, I had to use every self-recovery trick in the book to get myself break free.
Once clear of the mud trap, the solo leg of the expedition comes to an end as I push northeast toward the Zimbabwe border to reunite with my family for the next phase of the adventure.

As a photographer I have learned that if the distance from the horizon to the visible sun is roughy 4 fingers wide you have around one hour left before the sun is below the horizon. Ie, one finger is around 15 minutes, two is 30, aso.
Don’t you need the MaxTrax to be below/under the vertical centerline of the wheels to get the tires to grip?
