The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast

Fox Sports’ lead College Football analyst Joel Klatt reacts to Minnesota’s upset win over Michigan and why it reminded him of old-school college football in the best way. He also explains why Michigan is having so many issues and what has to change to get their season back on track. Klatt discusses where Jeremiah Smith sits in the pantheon of greats at Ohio State after another 200-yard game vs Iowa. He also weighs in on USC’s comeback win and what he thinks about the idea that the Trojans need to move on from Lincoln Riley. Klatt also explains why he’s all-in on Alabama after the Tide’s dismantling of Mississippi State and then eats some crow after Missouri’s emphatic win over Florida. He also dives deeper into why it’s so hard to get consistent high-level results two weeks in a row in this current era of college football before revealing his latest Top 10 which includes a new team cracking his Top 5.

It sounds like Keelon Russell’s play is what everyone expected from Bryce Underwood.

Best Buckeye ever is between 3 guys. Archie. Orlando. Jeremiah.

There really isn't a wrong answer. All are legends.

Joel, your breakdown of how Minnesota won was terrific. I noticed the same thing in your last preview episode. Breaking down the X's and O's is where you really excel. More like this in the offseason, please. Tell us why certain teams succeeded or failed. Tell us what teams have done to address their problems and why they might be more (or less) successful next season. More of that. Much fewer top 10 lists. I'm sorry, but I just don't care who you think the top 10 running backs are going to be in June. I do care if you think a team has addressed what has kept them from being great, or lost something that made them great and how they will have to adjust to those losses.

Graduated from Ohio State. Haven’t missed a game either at the stadium or on TV in 24 years. Me, personally, haven’t seen anyone better than Jeremiah Smith. I haven’t seen anyone consistently make plays that make me go “he’s the best player in the country,” over and over. I’ve been saying it since he was a freshman and it feels like I say it almost every game. Especially this year. I’m grateful to even get to see someone dominate the game the way he does.

I respect you given MIZ our flowers. One of the few people to say they were wrong. Respect sir.

Joel, it's also important to remind the listeners that the Univ of MN Golden Gophers are 7-time NCAA National Champions in Football!!!

Great segment on OSU, Jeremiah and the top 2 OSU all time of him and Orlando...spot on.

You know it’s special when Joel says “it’s not always about the playoffs”

Minnesota “pulling in the same direction” is what P.J. Fleck preaches all the time! That’s why he says “row the boat”.

@41:30 is possibly the wildest statement to hear without context 😅😅😅

Thanks always enjoy

Jeremiah's weekly statlines and highlights are almost any other WR's season highlight. Ive never seen someone this dominant against literally any opponent he plays week after week.

What about running back Archie Griffin? Man was a beast at OSU and in college football. Lead rushing and was the best running back in the Big 10 for 3 straight years and was the best running back in the country back to back for two straight years, which include winning two Heisman Trophies back to back in "73 and '74. I think he's still the best player in OSU history so far.

Crazy thing is none of us really know how good LSU/Ole Miss/Florida/Missouri actually is. Will be fun to see how each of their seasons unfolds!

36:13 that’s from Rocky IV, my friend. Great reference

WHAT! WHAT! Joel Klatt rolling with the Tide. I thought I got up at sunup. I have to be still sleeping!

@kirkcornelius1074 5 hours ago

As a Bama fan I’m worried about all this love. I think back to LSU, Ole Miss, and now Florida. I hope our team realizes they still have a lot of work to do.

41:36 Coach grinded on him to make him better? 😳

Finally saw some good matchups that give us a real read on strengths and weaknesses. Buckeyes looked really good. But playing at IU will be probably the biggest test since Texas.
