The popular opinion is that Brian Clough was the greatest football manager England never had. I believe it was Jack Charlton. Clough was brilliant with smaller provincial clubs like Derby and Forest, Clough could influence lesser players and make them better; however, when it came to big time international players his autocratic style of leadership didn’t always wash. You see superstars don’t like being constantly told they’re not good enough and that they have no say. It’s not a criticism of Clough it’s simply how he was. At Derby and Forest he turned struggling clubs into world beaters.
Jack Charlton a former World Cup winner and legend knew how to treat players and he’d been a part of an England team that was successful. Players loved Jack and would have played for him. Jack Charlton would have been a magnificent England football manager.

36:50 that's Tollesby Road Middlesbrough, I used to play there as a kid, at the time Jack was Ireland manager,I  lived just around the corner, it was amazing that Boro were still training there when Ravanelli and Juninho were here, it was just a local council football and cricket pitch.

Munich definitely stayed with Bobby.. he never lost a step on the pitch but it was clear that it affected him for the rest of his life..
Losing his colleagues, mates and being able to carry on must leave massive survivors guilt..

Legend!

Jack my hero on and off the pitch

1957/58 was United’s second season in Europe.
