MAIDIACS!! Apparently reacting to *“Choose Me”* wasn’t enough punishment for my brain, because the *BAND-MAID Wheel of Jackpots* decided Episode 8 needed to be *“After Life.”* 😂🔥
And yeah… I probably should’ve given myself a break.
From the very beginning, *BAND-MAID – After Life* came in swinging. The heavier sound, the aggression, Saiki’s delivery, Miku coming through in the mix, and everybody just attacking their instruments made this feel like one giant rush of energy.
At one point I genuinely realized I was OUT OF BREATH. 😂
That is something I keep noticing the deeper I get into BAND-MAID. Whether they give you something slower and more atmospheric like *“Daydreaming,”* something I instantly connected with like *“Bubble,”* or something that comes flying at you like *“Choose Me”* and *“After Life,”* they always find some way to completely pull you into the song.
And “After Life” definitely pulled me in.
The music video matched that energy perfectly too. There was this anger and intensity coming through in the song that I could feel even without focusing on the subtitles, and the visuals only helped push that emotion further.
But that instrumental section?!
I don’t even know what the proper terminology is, so we’re just calling it the part where *EVERYBODY STARTED GOING CRAZY.* 😂
It felt like the guitar, bass, and drums all fused together into one massive solo, and once again I was reminded why BAND-MAID is such an interesting group to listen to.
You can TRY to focus on *Saiki’s vocals**, but then **Miku Kobato* catches your ear.
Then *Kanami Tōno* starts doing something on guitar.
Then *MISA* reminds you that the bass exists.
Then *Akane Hirose* starts going off behind the drums.
And suddenly you have no idea where your attention is supposed to go anymore. 😂
Every member of BAND-MAID brings so much to the group that it almost feels wrong to focus on only one part of the song. You really have to take in the entire band to appreciate everything happening.
And knowing that I’m eventually going to see *BAND-MAID live* makes these reactions even more exciting because I already know I’m going to have absolutely NO IDEA where to look when they hit the stage. 😂🤘
“After Life” was aggressive, chaotic, emotional, ridiculously fun, and somehow left me both exhausted and wanting more.
MAIDIACS, I want to know:
*What kind of emotion does “After Life” bring out of YOU when you hear it?*
And for those of you who have seen BAND-MAID live, does their music somehow hit even harder in person?
Drop your thoughts below!
We’re just out here having fun, expanding the music palette, building that music portfolio, and getting exposed to great music along the way.
MAIDIACS, appreciate y’all for continuing to rock with me.
Much love! 🤘
