Started as a fact compilation and turned into an existential crisis

"Glameow is so unremarkable that nobody has ever shiny hunted it in gen 5"
Me, thinking back to my defiant purugly on my BW2 shiny cats-only team: 👁 👄 👁

34:04 did anyone else forget this was a video about shiny Pokemon? Thought I'd found my way on to an award winning indie film.

Wishing the best for Wyatt, will also be running the full video with ads on in hopes of further support!

3:05 so this is actually the birthday paradox. The probability is not “one specific spinda pattern matching a new Spinda” but in reality it’s “two Spindas having the same pattern”

Assuming every spinda pattern has an equal chance of appearing, it will take collecting 75,000 shiny Spinda to get a 50% chance two of them have the same pattern. This is because youre able to compare every spinda to every other spinda, instead of just comparing every spinda to 1 specific spinda

The formula for calculating this is as follows

x = amount of spinda collected

P(x) = probability of finding a unique spinda pattern after x spindas have been collected

S = Constance representing amount of spinda patterns (bulbapedia sites a number roughly less than 4 billion due to some patterns having no visual difference)

P(x) = 1 - x/S

U(x) = probability of all collected spindas having unique patterns

U(x) = Product of all P(n), where n starts at 1 and increases by 1 until it gets to x

Product = multiplication (I’m just using slang)

R(x) = probability of at least two spindas having the same pattern after x collected

R(x) = 1 - U(x)

R(x) is just the opposite of U(x) since if two spindas share a pattern, then not all of the spindas are unique

And finally I got R(75,000) = 50%

This is assuming spindas are just an equally likely 1/S chance for any arbitrary pattern

21:12 shiny Channel Jirachi was actually found last year by a shiny hunter named Magnemite!

I know this is a compilation but im glad he's uploading frequently again

Hey Phin and Wyatt, I sincerely hope you two are doing well. I've been following your channel for a while now, and I just wanted to say that I love your style of videos. I know how it feels to see a loved one in a situation like this, and I think I can speak on behalf of the community when I say we love you guys, and everything you do. To me, this isn't just about a monetary donation. This is about supporting something I believe in. Pokemon is an amazing series that has many characters, quirks, and stories to tell, just like all of us. It's been bringing the world together in some unexpected ways, and I love that. I sincerely want you guys to keep telling your story, because so long as you have to means to do so, we will always be here to listen.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I'm currently laying in bed with a severe throat infection, this video is just what I need to fall asleep, thank you❤

that glameow shiny is one i think i might actually try to go for. glameow and purugly are my favorite pokemon of all time, and it’s so rare that they’re ever included in a game!

theres something beautiful about finding a shiny organically

8:00 Shoutout to my first ever shiny pokemon, a shiny Smoochem I hatched from the odd egg. I was just a kid when I got her, and I didn't know how shiny pokemon worked. So I never evolved her because I was afraid she'd stop being shiny. I gave her an everstone because I loved her the way she was and I took her all the way to the elite four round 2. <3 That crystal version is long gone, but even if I don't like Jynx I'll always have a soft spot for Smoochem.

Getting Pokérus in my Sapphire version back in the day is one memory I'll never forget. Mostly because it felt very weird and random and never happened again.

the introspection is so fascinating it makes me hopeful

Hope Wyatt’s surgery goes well, thinking of both of you 💙💙

Okay mate you earned a sub for that Glameow bit

2 videos in a week ?!? what did we do to deserve this 😊

Yoo Phin is swagged out! Him being a ginger even makes himself a shiny

There's a glitch in the Gen 1 games that I stumbled upon that I've never seen before, if you battle Giovanni in the Viridian Gym with a full inventory, he'll give you the Earthbadge but he won't be able to give you TM27, then go to Route 22 where Blue will appear and battle you, beat him then make space in your inventory and go back to Giovanni and he'll give you TM27 then go back to Route 22 where, weirdly, Blue will be there but he won't battle you. It seems the game checks that you have all 8 badges and then once you've collected TM27, it checks again and spawns Blue.
