A policeman, walking his lonely beat, is blinded by a pointblank shotgun blast... and the fair haired assailant calmly walks away. With only a partial fingerprint to go on, the police doggedly stalk their elusive quarry. What happens is borne of the rage and frustration of two detectives who bait a clever trap.

I'm listening now, in 2026! After reading some of the comments made diring the Covid-19 lockdown, I can appreciate the times when these radio dramas were an intrisic part of my daily sanity. Today, six years later....I still enjoy and very much appreciate the reassurance and comfort these shows still provide me! Thanks so much, from San Francisco, California.

Nothing I enjoy more than closing my eyes and being ‘read to’ especially if the voices are just right ❤

My dear departed Dad brought me to a studio many decades ago as a child. I was already devoted to whatever I could pick up. The team in that studio was brilliant and made an unforgettable memory of time with him and the magic of radio when pop culture had largely moved on to TV. Without ever undertaken a study, through listening as often as possible I’ve developed such respect and appreciation for these writers, actors, producers, directors, “stations”/platforms and sui generous archivists, curators like BBC via Chesterton who continue to share so many engaging, entertaining pieces. They represent the artistry of another era and the sophisticated tastes and solid family values of days gone by. I sure hope our overloaded entertainment-focused society takes a breath sometime, revisits these gems, and takes fresh inspiration from the quality and ingenuity. There’s nothing like them so, thanks to YouTube, too. Grateful, grateful person.

There was a host of radio personalities that went along with these dramas, PC 49. Whitehall 1212., Saturday Night Theatre - one curled up with ones parents and let these tales dance around a darkened room, Such happy days - oh, forgot the dogs they curled up too.

Perfect listening for me this morning. I far prefer the old plays than the new, speech is good & music superb for detective series! Thank you for uploading 👍👍

Boy, sounds like they had a radio drama on the wireless every night of the week! How wonderful that must have been. You can do lots of other things & still listen intently to a radio drama, not like the telly in which case you are glued to the image. Thanks be to God for the BBC archives. And many thanks to our poster! *

Had me on the edge of my seat. Brilliant drama, brilliant acting. On a cold night this is wonderful to listen to.

Listening is like being there, no need for vision. Wonderful experiences of these old plays, such a pity the likes of BBC left all this behind for the rubbish they have today. Many thanks. ❤👍
