Steve Pedullo served as a New York Police Department officer for over a decade inside the largest and most scrutinized police department in the world — before a shooting ended his career earlier than he ever expected and forced him into a retirement that gave him a perspective on law enforcement, the criminal mind, and the specific realities of policing in New York City that most people who follow NYPD content have never heard from the officer who lived it. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares what serving the NYPD for over a decade actually looked like from the inside, what the shooting that forced him into early retirement actually involved and what that specific experience actually produced in him, and what the complete truth about policing in New York City — the criminal mind, the realities of the job, and what a decade inside the largest police department in the world actually costs the officer who serves it — really sounds like from the person who was there.

I remember him getting home at 3 in the morning and watching him from the top of the stairs sitting in the living room Crying a few times. I would run downstairs and give him a Huge Hug and say I love you daddy not letting him know I saw him crying.
After I Graduated College and he was retired I told him I saw him Crying a few times after work and asked him why.
He told me some of the things he saw and went through were really terrible and he then told me that what made him carry on was me hugging him when he got home telling him I love him.
I told him I figured he needed a Hug and he started crying.
- "What was the worst..."
- "What was the craziest..."
- "What was the funniest..." call that they had been on.
I can't believe how underrated this podcast is. I'd expect the views to be in the +100,000's.
