*David mentions how the waterfall dungeon is designed to make the character fall in love with Bianca.
*Videos from later dungeons show that David clearly chose to marry Nera, instead.

The learning curve sounds really friendly.
I really like dungeons with puzzles and hazards if they aren't ridiculously hard or complicated. What I really hate are bosses, especially hard bosses, I cannot save before I fight them.

I literally just finished Dragon Quest V on ios and this was actually the first time I've ever beaten this game. I did managed to beat DQ 1 and DQ 4, and just starting out DQ 6. For me DQ 4-6 had some good music; but DQ 5's music just puts ears to my eyes, because of how serene it can be, how fierce the music in a battle will make you want to finish the game. Zenithia Castle is perhaps one of my favorite pieces of music in the DQ series, cause of how it feels so baroque/renaissance to me. The dungeons were sometimes confusing, yes. However, the story is what made me finish the game in the first place. This game will always have a special place in my heart and congrats on the 10,000 subs as well.

Damn, talk about coincidences, I started DQ V on saturday LOL. I don't know about having good dungeons....but the story? Oh heck yes, it's GOOD, not only for Dragon Quest but for RPGs in general.

Whoo this is my first Dragon Quest game. I emulated the translated famicom version to play this game, and boy it was the best way to start the series. I my manage to beat 1-5, and 8, but 5 will always be my favorite in the series. To me it has the best story in the series since the player would be along the journey with the protagonist till the end, and it has made me feel happy or sad on whatever happens on that journey. I am glad to know that someone like you loves this game as well. Glad I subscribed

Congrats on 10,000 subscribers!  I just finished my first playthrough of Dragon Quest V (on Super Famicom) and really enjoyed it.  I did get stuck on the sliding floor puzzle in the last dungeon.  Thanks for going over the highlights of each dungeon.  Maybe my favourite was the Waterfall Cave because of the nice scenery and character building.

I like the generational thing in this game.  The fact that you start off as a young boy, then an adult, and you are the father of the hero who will wield the sword of light!  Good stuff!

Congratulations on 10,000 subs! You deserve it for all the amazing JRPG videos you do!

Congratulations on 10K subs! Here's to 100K more!!

Very good video. I got a lot of inspirations for the game I'm making. Thank you! :)

Man, I am currently playing the Dragon Quest series in order (half-marathoning, you could say), and I just finished 3, which was surprisingly great for an NES RPG. 5 and 7 are the ones I am the most eager to play!

Man, I love this series!

So happy for you man, I always watch your videos after work or my martial arts class. You do good
content bro keep it up.

Lenoir castle is my favorite dungeon ever. By far.

Dragon Quest V to this day, is still my favorite Dragon Quest game

The Slime Knight will stay with you till the very end

Congratulations on 10,000 Subscribers! :D

I feel like Dragon Quest lost a lot of it's dungeon charms in later games. Particularly VIII and IX, while they still have some puzzle dungeons they are largely just bog-standard generic dungeons with little memorable elements to them. IX suffers the most in it's grottoes which are just random maze layouts with no thought or real design philosophy put into them. VIII thankfully doesn't have as many dungeons as some RPGs but the ones it does have don't really stand out in any meaningfully interesting way.

Congrats on 10 000 subs. You deserve it. Dragon Quest V has some really cool dungeon designs and it makes sense why you used it as an example of good dungeons. Makes me wish I had played those games when I owned a PS2. I'm playing FFV on steam right now which is the only FF game from 1-10 that I have not yet played. FF dungeons are a lot simpler and less creative compared to dragon quest.

Its the only Dragon Quest Game i am missing for my DS Collection. But its the hardest one to get and very expensive. And now i see why this probably is^^
