We are back in model railway exhibition season and my first foray was down to Fareham, for the Fareham & District Model Railway Clubs' annual exhibition. This was my 4 or 5 visit to this show, which is easily accessed from my home in West Wiltshire - and can quite often involve a visit to AC Models in Eastleigh - due to the effects of storm Amy, this wasnt possible this year.
Firstly, my apologies to the exhibitors of the following layouts, which do not appear in this film : Stockerston, Tittesworth and Two Tower Brewery.
This is a shame, as none of these has featured previously in one of my films.
Layouts featured are as follows:
Melin Dolrhyd - A oo9 narrow gauge layout featuring a real location on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.
Lisworth Bay - A N gauge BR steam era layout
Norton Vale - A oo gauge branchline set in the 1960's so features steam and diesel traction - plus a well known blue tank engine!
Exebridge - A TT 3mm scale layout set in the West Country.
Alderford - Almost certainly the furthest travelled exhibit, this OO gauge modern image (well, 1980's) layout features 2 mainlines which come together at a large through station, set in the North West.
Hells Glen - Part of the large Los Tanimals N gauge modular exhibit with a power station, gorge and coal mine at its heart.
Scruffs Junction - a scale 7 layout, set in the Forest of Dean. In the film footage, traction from various time periods appear.
The Parlour Railway - 7mm O gauge presented in a very different way - if you were a wealthy Edwardian Gent, you may have had an end to end arrangement on your parlour mantelpiece. Broad gauge trains feature - somewhat unusual.
Redbridge Wharf - This OO gauge layout's main feature is the Southern Railway / region sleeper works that used to be located adjacent to Redbridge station, where the Bournemouth mainline diverges from the original Sprat and Winkle line to Romsey.
Ryburn - A 4mm scale P4 finescale layout of a location on a line built by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway.
Cardiff Canton - The day running shed and water tower of this major depot complex, located in South Wales, is the subject of this 4mm scale OO gauge layout. The highlight of this layout, for me, is the individual weathering applied to the diesel locos on it - they are superb examples of observational modelling.
Minories - The classic track layout devised by the late Cyril Freezer is the basis for this urban station layout in 4 mm scale, EM track gauge.
Elbow Lane - Another very urban layout in OO gauge. This gritty enviroment has, again, been modelled in a high detail - and I really loved it.
Nictun Borrud - 4mm OO gauge branch line terminus. Set in the late years of the BR steam period, there is some well modelled grot on show.
Brailes End - A oo gauge branch line terminus, set in North West Oxfordshire, this layout has recently been refreshed and upgraded after being given to the Bognor Regis Model Railway Club.
The show didnt disappoint and was well backed up by a good selection of traders, selling a good variety of items.
Thank you for watching this film. Please feel free to comment, like and share. If you arent a subscriber to the channel, now is a good time to subscribe - as I said earlier, its the start of model railway exhibition season and there will be more videos to come. I will also be out and about exhibiting some of my little layouts - if you see Les's Yard or Wijovia Pass out and about, please say hello.
