I really would love a Live-Album Video

Great reviews and reflections.
Personally, The Rising was the first album i listened to from him, and i was amazed by his vision and talent, which come from a place of hope that i don't usually see blooming from myself. So he's been a great inspiration for me also as a strong resilient compromised man.

About what you said of the way people tend to listen to music these days, as a 26 year old guy who's been a fan of music since 13, i don't do it that way.
I always give music a time and focus to fully comprehend everything about it, and i listen to whole albums instead of just a few songs.
The reason i do this is because i love watching an artist grow musically and mentally, it's very inspiring for me to experience that (and very disappointing when they don't).
I've listened to most of these projects, but you made me want to go to the ones i haven't, so thank you very much for that.

And in terms of other artists to do these tier lists about, you mentioned Tom Waits a lot 😄 so i would love to know your opinions on his work.
Other great options could be Neil Young, Paul Simon, or Leonard Cohen.
And i want to especially mention Joni Mitchell. I've been listening to her catalogue lately, and i think she has nothing to envy anybody mentioned here. Very poetic confessional lyrics, very layered unconventional sounds, and a beautiful expressive voice.

Thanks for your content, i really appreciate your knowledge and very articulate opinions. Greetings from Chile 👐

Sorry hating on NYCS is crazy

1:34:40 “it’s with such apathy towards the person who wrote it or sings it”  Thank you for articulating what I feel is the disconnect that the algorithm-based music landscape creates. In many ways I’m thankful that our access to music is so universal, but it saddens me to hear when my peers don’t really care to listen to albums in their entirety. I connect the most with artists whose story I am able to follow through the progression of their discography and I feel like people are depriving themselves of that by just listening to what the algorithm has cherrypicked.

You should do one of all Beatles and solo Beatles together

Please do either a Live Album list or a Van Morrison list!

I thought you went WAY too hard on the Ghost of Tom Joad. The songwriting depth and the emotional, visceral depth of the performances far outweigh the technical liabilities that you list.

I know it’s a modern suggestion but can you cover Big Thief/Adrienne Lenker’s catalog? One of the best guitarist and lyricists out there today.

Same as the Dylan series, this one got me deeper into the artist you reviewed. My fingers are crossed for Cohen or Young next! (Would also love to hear your thoughts on some artists with smaller discographies, especially Nick Drake and Phil Ochs)

Love these! Neil Young next, please! I totally agree with what you are saying about listening to an artist entire discography. I love doing that, and it really gives you a perspective into their growth and just their deeper cuts. I’ve always listened to full albums.

Wonderfully thorough and a great watch. Darkness on the Edge of Town is a perfect album imo that should be an easy S. Every track hits.

Also disagree with your opinion on Night and Backstreets but respect it nonetheless!

This is one I haven’t seen in the comments but I think John Prine’s discography is one that isn’t talked about enough and would be cool to see them ranked

I liked the video but I’ll sub once you start the Lou Reed series

“Started out writing”, and shows lyrics of Jungleland!  Sigh.  How anyone can dismiss anything from Greetings or The Wild is beyond me.  His first album was the Dylanesque folk strummer who was really in a great bar band.  The second was the street poet who had grand visions.  The third was the deliverance of all that promise.

Roger McGuinn, from the Byrds on...

Nebraska has to be in the top tier

‘Mansion’ even.

Neil Young!!

i wonder what you think about blind spot and bonus songs from greatest hits

What happened with working on a dream? It dropped one tier immediately.
