This is one of the most memorable adventure films of the 60s.  Barry's score is a big highlight.  It apparently was never released in 70mm in the US - but the stereophonic soundtrack remains on home theater versions.

Great upload. This film took my breath away when I saw it the first time. Too bad about what they did to Pvt. Hook who by all accounts was an awesome soldier and an excellent man in real life. Colour Sgt. Bourne was a bad-ass in film and in life. Oh, and Barry's score was wonderful.

One of the best descriptions of Zulu for Americans was “Like the battle of Little Big Horn only with smart soldiers…and they won” lol

“Zulu” (1964) takes us to the Zulu-war the British army fought during the 1870’s, starring Michael Caine among others. With splendid actions and cinematography you can witness the madness of war…
Giving the picture a tremendous compliment, is the pounding music of John Barry. Unfortunately Barry’s score saw only the light of an album-release (the film versions are still unreleased and probably lost). This album version contains about 18 minutes of score (the rest were pop-variations). However, this music got splendidly remastered by Quartet Records in 2021 and we take the chance to celebrate the movie’s 60th anniversary by taking a listen to it. Enjoy!

I have this one, from a 1997 release on the British label " Fat Boy ". One of John Barry 's most vibrant works, at height of his career. With the basic arrangement " strings _ brass _ percussion ", he creates intense themes with a strong presence of double bass and melodic soundscapes with  different types of timpani!! Truly, a John Barry from the good times! Thanks and bye!!

Probably.    THE.     BEST    BATTLE      MUSIC     COMPOSED

John Barry giving the timpani a workout!

This brings me to that beautiful ending, maybe not historically accurate but beautiful nonetheless: "They're saluting fellow brave men".

I play this when I have a lot of work to do, processing boring files.
They appear on the ridge line, thousands of them, banging their shields.
"Why us, sir?"
"Because we're 'ere, lad..."

Thank you! Great film. Love John Barry scores, and this one was a doozy.

One of the most incredible musical pieces ever composed, absolutely love Zulu.

Thanks Fred ❤
Well done John Barry.👏🏻
Research: The fact is historical and the film reconstructs it with great resources. Cy Endfield directs, writes the screenplay (with John Prebble) and produces (together with Stanley Baker) the film. Baker receives a very serious wound in battle which then magically disappears as the story develops.
The massacre of the British army, which occurred in the previous Battle of Isandlwana, is depicted in the 1979 film “Zulu Dawn”.

Great upload, music and soundtrack from the film!!

Outstanding , Very High Quality Stereo Sound , I Love It, Thanks For Posting

"hold them"...."hold them"!!!

He's a peeler, 716, come to arrest the Zulus! One of my favourite lines. 😊

I found this vinyl album in an ‘antique store’ in the west of Ireland yesterday

Was hoping to one day visit Rorke's Drift. However it truly is in the middle of nowhere.

First watched ZULU when I was 10 back in the 80s on VHS. The film totally blew me away and I’ve been into history ever since.

Ardendoorfs reply to Bromheads comment about the Zulus attack formation “ oh it’s jolly deadly old boy” 😎
