Impressive and pedigreed warhorses are what win battles. The common mule is what wins wars.

Bulk freighters supply ships larger than an ISD.  These ships are called box ships belonging to either the Costco Federation, Walmart Sphere, or the Amazon Alliance.

Who remembers Star Wars: Rebellion? There was a game mechanic built in that, after a while, made amassing giant capital ship fleets detrimental to your ability to win the game. After a while, it became more economical to have one fleet with a few capital ships, frigates and carriers per sector just to clear out planetary/space defense before moving in a large fleet of troop transports filed to the brim with ground troops that can be easily back filled after occupying an enemy planet. Clear, occupy, move on. Clean out the sector quickly and use diplomacy to stop smuggling losses and supercharge the economy. Build a small QRF defense fleet and dispatch the main battle fleet and occupation fleet to the next sector. Wash, rinse, repeat. A quarter century old game epitomized the idea that brute force super fleets were a drain on upkeep and freighters should be the backbone of your space assets.

To be fair, when Han FIRST saw the Millenium Falcon...  It did look good.   (aside from that "thing" in the front)

What's that quote? "Amateurs speak of tactics, professionals speak of logistics". Wars run on MONEY.

I would love to see a post-galactic civil war series about an imperial faction trying to maintain control of a sector while dealing with political/material issues

Battles are won by combatants and their equipment, wars are won behind an ever-increasing mountain of paperwork.

Yo I love your videos. Star wars brought me and my step dad together we didn't like each other at first but then he showed me Star wars you were one of the first Star wars YouTubers I watched

External cargo pods is one of my favorite parts of Independence War 2, and Freelancer, they're a nice flavour of realism in fantastical settings.

Cargo space? Car no go space, car go road.

I find cargo ship have more personality than other ships

I lost my heart to the Millennium Falcon the moment I first saw her.

You should do a video on what would happen if Thrawn commanded the entire US Navy and Air Force, it would be quite interesting to see what the likely outcomes would be!

Amateurs talk strategy; professionals talk logistics.

In our galaxy the only time freighters have been armed was when military protection was inadequate. The problem with arming a freighter or any other ship is quite simple: 1) You are armed with defensive weapons on a platform not designed for operating in combat conditions. 2) Packing heat your odds of being fired on, most likely by a trained and experienced crew using superior weaponry goes up exponentially... which right off tends to lower the life expectancy of the crew considerably more than being unarmed would.

‘A bulk freighter for every man and woman“ that’s a big dream but I guess you got a dream big

its interesting though how in scifi the biggest warships dwarf everything, but the real world the cargo ships are the biggest.

I absolutely love the YV-929 Armed Freighter ! It comes already armed and I'm sure you can strap a couple more turbolasers and laser canons to it. It comes with two duel turbolasers , two triple blasters, two ion canons and four concussion missile launchers , two front and two rear facing. I actually remember that off the top of my head.

Running my own medium sized freighter is one of my choice jobs in starwars. Using the profit to continue to upgrade it into a beast.
