Pajero is very underrated, there is a video on YouTube about a Pajero with 1 Million KM on the clock!!

The WA Pajero Club has a a wealth of knowledge for you to tap into.

As others have said, mount the trailer  plugs on top of the bracket. A quality 2 inch suspension lift with HD rear springs and airbags allows the tow hitch to be fitted the right way up, thereby solving the door opening issue while keeping the rig level and improving the good ride even further. Very happy with my 2014.

I really enjoyed this, your presentation was top notch. Thank you.

I’ve just bought myself a 2008 diesel Pajero for 13k with all the bells and whistles bolted on including a 2” Lift with airbags in the rear and a bull bar with a winch installed. I bought it because my parents have a 2014 Pajero and they have pulled their caravan around Australia multiple times. The only mod they did for towing was put airbags in the rear to stop it squatting when the caravan was on. Other than that their Pajero is 100% stock and with good maintenance they have never had a problem with the car.

A great all round vehicle.

Nice vid. Have a 2009 NT, tow a van, single axle 2.6T fully loaded. I removed the spare wheel cover and got the panels to cover the back door and the adaptor plate the lifts the spare higher. Can open the rear over the hitch etc.
When I bought it, had HD Lovell setup. The rear springs were too heavy and when not towing had too much pressure on the rear CVs. Replaced rear with tough dog 300kg constant spring, shocks and airbags. What a game changer. Run the airbags with 30-35psi when towing and now have no sway or wallow at all, no sag in the rear. Leave a few psi in the bags when not towing and the car handles normal life perfectly.
A decent tune and exhaust does wonders for towing. No hit to economy.

A very useful video. I haven't got a 4x4 yet, just an AWD but my next car will be a 4X4, getting ready for retirement and the big lap. But I have not heard a bad word about the Pajero and so is high on my list also boosted by your vids. Thanks for sharing.

Love the Pajero 2021 exceed. Good on you mate. Good video 👍

Just a suggestion from a follow Pajero owner, as standard the trailer plug is underslung on the bracket and, as you've found, can get damaged. I've flipped mine over to the top of the bracket and haven't a any further issues. Yes, it's technically upside down but it works better for me.

Superb video mate.! 2010 NT Pajero owner and I love mine..!!
I've done a few mods to mine like a roof rack, 60 lt water tank, fold our cooking table, bullbar, whinch, spotties, UHF and snorkel, 2 inch lift, new shockies and larger tyres.
Engine is stock and delivers plenty of power while greatbon fuel.
I woukd highly recommend a 2 inch lift mate. More ground clearance, no sagging and ALSO you'll be able to switch your tow ball back to for rear door clearance and the trailer will still be level 😊
Have a good one mate 👍

2012 nw 2inch lift with Lowell’s and air bags fixed my problem.towing 17ft single axle full size caravan absolutely loves it

Great video thanks!

love this video. i tow a camper in my 2013 Pajero and have HD king springs and airbags in the back. the rids is so good and level. i can open the rear door a bit more than in this video before hitting the trailer break but this i will look out for in the future. cheers

Great vid.

Had an NT Pajero with 2”lift about 10yr ago, we had a treg hitch so didn’t have the rear door opening issues , I’ve had several Dual cab utes and now seriously considering going back to a wagon, the Pajero still rates well 👌🏼

Got a MKIII travel pajero and everything you mention is exactly like my experience ! Like the back sag and fuel consumption.
It's my second Pajero from MKII to the MKIII and love these cars for the price second hand.
My spare wheel is on the side tho ;p
You're doing stuff with standard bumpers which are made for asfalt moms ;), you need higher bumpers for the tow connections

Pajero’s are a great touring vehicle and can be made even better with a decent suspension upgrade. Our old NM had a 40mm tough dog lift and it was the best mod I’d done to the vehicle. It helped to alleviate some of the cons you’ve mentioned in your video.
I towed our Jayco camper thousands of kilometres on dirt roads around Australia and never had an issue with the vehicle or the camper other than small issues that could be fixed on the road. The only thing that couldn’t be fixed was the fuel consumption. The NM was a 3.5 litre V6 that consistently returned over 18 litres per 100 with the camper on. The worst being 40 litres per 100 on a sand track into a headwind. At 300k she finally gave up and haemorrhaged all over the garage floor after getting home from a long trip. Engine oil everywhere, but at least she made it home.
We now have an NX diesel to which we again fitted a suspension lit, this time Kings springs with Bilstein shocks, a superb contrast to the standard suspension and the tough dog on the NM. It hasn’t done the big trips yet, but I’m sure it will handle it as well if not better than the NM.
Both were Exceeds and the trim level is similar.

Airbagman suspension works well on the Paj

Love your vids mate. A suspension lift/upgrade will benefit you in many ways, increase your arr/dep angles, less body roll/dip/squat too and generally feel more pleasant to drive over the stock suspension. Plus it will open up more possibilities of where you want to take the car. Ive just got the Koni/Kings combo for my NW rated for constant load.
