If anyone is wondering why this video is numbered 248 while Sam is 249, that's because this episode was supposed to be out before the Sam one, but I was unable to release it due to a copyright claim. But I can now! Enjoy everyone.

My only gripe is the interpretation of the scene at the beginning with the church elders. They are trying to offer him a way to recant and save his family from banishment. His family react with shock because he is prideful and refuses to humble himself, thus condemning them to death for his pride.

Caleb’s monologue is some of the best child acting I have ever witnessed!!!

“Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?
— Black Philip
“I am an appetite. Nothing more.”
- Count Orlock

Awesome lines.

What I love so much about the "Wouldst thou like to live deliciously" scene is that Satan really offers her nothing. You imagine people joining with Satan for great power or wealth, but he just appeals her most base desires and needs. The taste of butter and a pretty dress. That is what I think makes the scene so masterful.

It was his pride that destroyed them. It's considered the greatest sin. He literally lead his family to all this because of his pride.

Gosh, I know Black Philip is literally the devil and everything, but you gotta give credit where credit is due, and that's gotta be the GOAT cinematic goat.

Robert Eggers is a master class in modern horror & filmmaking.

Do my ears deceive me, or is that blessed tune in the start of the video dancer of the boreal valley from the hit fromsoft game, dark souls 3?

I saw this in theaters at a midnight premiere during a thunderstorm. The evil feeling in the theater reached a peak during the witches' sabbath at the end. We went home and outside our house, my teenage nephew was wandering without his shirt in the rain, inebriated, confused, and crying around 2 a.m. It was so eerily reminiscent of Caleb. I've never forgotten.

The mom is so good at playing a crazy lady. She was Lysa Arryn in Game of Thrones.
The dad is in GoT, too, as the Iron Islander, Dagmer.

Also the devil doesn't dress like a puritan. He dresses like a cavalier, who were enemies of the puritan faction in the English Civil War.

The use of the dancer of the boreal valley as the main theme for this was the best creative decision anyone has ever made.

Its so funny to me that nobody noticed the clearly pagan and satanic song the twins were singing during the film with the goat in the middle of the film.
