Dave, I think that sentence means that the entire quilt is made of the pieced blocks ONLY—that is, no sashing, no outside borders.  I love your version of it. Also, your ideas are fresh and fun, and your videos are terrific.  I love your music choices in the fast forward portions and your humor cracks me up. Quilt on and keep having fun!  I look forward to your next quilt.

I remember Grandma using Corn Flakes boxes to cut out triangle templates back in the 70s.

When my mother saw a quilt pattern in a newspaper or magazine that she wanted, she would sit up after bedtime (with a newspaper, a pencil, a ruler, and a pair of scissors) and make a copy of the pattern (without paying for a printed pattern). By the time we got home from school the next day, Mom would have a good start (sample) of the quilt top made.  Please don't get upset over mistakes made in your quilts. I was taught that we are supposed to make at least one mistake in every quilt for Good Luck; because, "Only GOD makes things perfect." Your quilt is bright, colorful, cheerful, and beautiful. Someone is going  to love getting that quilt. Thank you for making this video.

Thank you. I am a male quilter and have been quilting for about  30 years and watching your videos reminded me that we all need to quilt the way we want to without rules and suggestions from anyone else. I got to the point were I felt everything had to match and be perfect. It took all the fun out of it. All quilts need to relax and have fun with it. Thanks again

When I first started quilting, I was taught to cut triangles separately….what a PITA that was!!  lol

I agree with Elizabeth. It means that this block is never mixed with other blocks, the whole quilt is made of only this block.

Dave, your eye for color is unreal! You know how to put complementary colors together and make them look amazing. As a fellow male quilter, I’d love to do a retreat or collaboration with you sometime. I’m 56 now, and I came out at 50 — quilting became a huge part of my recovery journey and creative outlet after ending a 29 year marriage to live my truth.
