I highly recommend paying as close attention as possible for this show. This was clearly made with the intent of having the audience piece things together themselves

An important distinction: The intro depicted the fall of humanity on Copper 9, not Earth. Uzi's wants to pick a fight with the Earth humans because the Disassembly Drones were sent from Earth.

MURDER DRONES IS ABSOLUTELY PEAK. I hope you can enjoy all 8 episodes!

Little Fun Fact: The Pilot is the only episode that was animated using motion capture data for character movement, the rest of the show is animated like any other 3d animated series, in Blender and Unreal Engine.

This series has a lot of hidden details/secrets/jokes in the background or that are only shown on screen for a couple of seconds. If at any point you think you see something that you should go back a couple seconds to pause and read during recording you absolutely should. That's part of what makes this series so fun to watch

Dude you gotta keep going with this series. I was the same as you, didn't think it'd be worth my time when it first dropped 3 years ago. Then I binged all of it in one day about 3 weeks ago, and I'm telling you right now: watching all 8 episodes will TOTALLY be worth it. Trust 🙏🏾

A few notes of my own for this: 1, as you reference, the show definitely gets better as it goes, especially in terms of animation. 2, one thing that I feel strongly about the series is that it's more about the vibes. Like... even as a huge fan of the show, there's a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense. And I love it. I can't go into depth without spoiling things, but the short version is that basically each episode takes inspiration from a specific horror genre.

First episode leans on vampire style horror: the Disassembly Drones overheat in the sun and need to drink the oil of other drones to survive. Why? Because the show's creator wanted them to be vampires. There's a lot of stuff like that, where there are bits that are weird until you just view them under the lens of "Oh, this is the horror trope we're doing." And in my opinion, if you just let yourself be along for the ride and don't over think it, it's a darn fun ride.

That's not to say there isn't a story, there definitely is. It's just that often the story within the episode is made to fit that episode's vibe.

Oh, and one other thing: As you got a taste of in this episode, the show utilizes the Samurai Jack school of "As long as it's happening to a robot and it's oil instead of blood, you can get away with a lot of brutality." I won't give specifics, but there are some scenes that are especially horrifying if you think about what if this were happening to someone who wasn't a robot.

LETS GOOOO! Murder Drones is so amazing

The pacing and humor changes a lot throughout the show

for the EMP
you can protect against them most skyscrapers have base level shielding (its for lightning strikes as the shielding also acts as a pathway to the ground for it)
more critical systems like hospitals and military buildings have more advanced shielding because of what that are

This just keeps happening where I have solid half memories of watching an entire series that you reacted to only for you to start reacting to it. I don't believe in dimension-hopping but if you do, then do what you will with that information lol

Heck yeah! I’m so happy you are checking this out! Be aware, the plot is hard to follow for the first four episodes, but it picks up a lot after that and the finale is 🤌. Also, there is some cognitive dissonance between the amount of violence in the show and how characters react, just know it’s more for effect and isn’t taken too seriously

Murder Drones is a gem of the internet, glad you caught her eye  changing in the end of the episode for reasons, most don't catch that first time through

FINALLY!

About Khan actions. While I understand that he abandoning his daughter to death because he is scared its quite shitty. I think that he was right and that he saved a lot of lives, and that his fear and reaction was more than justified. In fact just by the information we get just from the first chapter we can get a pretty good idea from where he comes, and why he take take that decision. Along the series we see more lore about him and his door-related obsession and we see him grow as a dad, but I'm going to focus exclusively on the info we get in the pilot:
1rst: He was built as a slave for humans, his whole programing was based on building and, based on the fact he seem to be the leader of the colony, maybe he was some type of overseer or team chief of WD. We see in the exposition bit that humans just discarded the WD (worker drones) like used toilet paper. (we see a bunch of WD squashed by a massive box, and the humans just look and take pictures.) So for starters his life is to work until he breaks, and then be replaced, that is also imprinted in his programing, so that's how he thinks things should be. Then suddenly the humans "gods" eradicate themselves and all WD get to be free. That means that the WD had to break out of their programs and experiment, try to be individuals, form their own society... that whole experience would have been at least mind breaking. Think like this, a human slave born into slavery that suddenly gets freedom, that person would have to break from a lot of abusive mindsets, and understand that they're someone, that they matter, that they can own things, have their own thoughts and likes, all those things. And this whole robot society had to live that change. That's why they have to copy human culture, because they didn't have any prior culture that they could recover, they had to copy human society, and form their families based on that. Chances are that their understanding of human society is all based from tv shows, and movies (it would explain why everyone are cliche).
Then, after they adapted to this new status quo and get out of the slave mind set, when everyone got their own happy lives, with their families and their own culture, this friking pod full of Fallen Angels arrive to exterminate everyone. Killing hundreds, many of which were surely friends and family of Khan. Can you imagine this, escaping slavery just to have all your community be massacred by literal Winged Demons that not only kill you in a variety of terrifying ways, but they also devour and drink your blood. If that's not enough to get PTSD I don't know what could be. Oh, wait a second, what if your wife, the woman you love and the mother of your child, is attacked by one of the Sky Demons and gets nanite acide burning her insides, killing her painfully and slowly. And the only thing you can do to help her is to  have to give her a fast death. You think that's enough to get massive PTSD? Enough to paralyze you by the mere presence of one of those monster?
2nd: Khan actually did something big. He, despite the massive PTSD he carried, was able to organize the survivors into a save colony, build doors that can withstand the monsters (V says that she's been trying to get through the doors for months without any progress), and give a "normal" live to those living inside the colony. We see that their live runs normal with high-school, work, etc. They live without fear thanks to the work Khan and the WDF did. I wont deny that they are too careless, and to a point fall into willing ignorance... but i blame that to their programing and the coping mechanism the may developed by coping human tv shows.
3rd: I mention before that those drone are programed. I mean the first gen drones, the ones build and programed by humans. Those were programed to do exclusive tasks, to obey humans, and most surely to not fight back. That explains why Khan is a great Door builder and leader of the WDF, but sucks at being a father. He was programed to be a builder and team leader, but anything out of that he just isn't programed for, and most surely anything he may learned comes from humans shows and movies... so yeah he probably just copied to Absent Father cliche. Its also why the old gen WD are scared and refuse to fight even with the Monsters in their faces, while the new Gen WD are more willing to fight, both Uzi and Thad. The new WD weren't programed to be slave to humans. In fact, we see in the exposition that the "babies" are pods with the warning: Untrained Neural Network. This makes me think that the new drone are made by mixing the programing of both parents in a safe container, they let the AI develop mixing and learning from both, and once its fully stable, they give a body to the new drone. That's why the young drones are willing to fight back or to actually take actions, they weren't programed by humans, instead their AIs were allowed to grow and develop freely.
4th: Now I'm goin to talk about the scene and explain why it wasn't a good idea for Khan to try to grab the gun. We just saw how fast N, the allegedly worst member of the MD (murder drones), killed a bunch of WD in the corridor, his reaction time, weapon variety and range, and his blood thirst are scary. And he is the nice one! Realistically N would have killed both Uzi and Khan in that moment, in fact had been J or V there, they would be death. The only reason the got any time to act at all, was because N feel bad about killing Uzi and was apologizing. Heck, he pinned Uzi to the wall with his wings, he could just as easily killed her, but the wound was non-lethal because its N. Second they had time to talk and argue because once again, N allowed them to do it, J or V wouldn't had give them any time, more knowing how dangerous that weapon was. Third, Uzi didn't fire before because her dad was in the fire line and could get hurt, this same thing happens with Khan, if he had grab the gun and tried to use it, Uzi would have been in the fire line, and can we remember that Khan already had to kill his wife, he would broke down if he had to do the same to his daughter. Fourth, even if he used the gun and killed the weapon has a 30 minutes recharge time, and J and V were about to enter, they would have see how dangerous that weapon is and immediately attacked both Uzi and Khan with a lot more ferocity. This would have resulted in the alarms not being activated, and the evacuation protocol wouldn't be initiated, therefore the two murder drones would had free range to kill the whole colony. Khan closing the doors was the only option that give time to evacuate (i know the MD drone did find the evacuation spot, but the whole thing gave the WD enough time, for Uzi and Rebel Boy N to arrive and save them).
TL;DR: Yes Khan reasons for closing the doors were coward, but he had every right to be terrified and in a PTSD induced paralysis. And Khan closing the doors was the best option of all, saving the maximum amount of citizens and Uzi's live, since N feel so bad at Uzi, that he hesitated to kill her after the doors closed, and then spared her live when J and V arrived.

PS: If anyone wants to point the Newspapers and interviews where Khan say a few hurtful things about uzi... I really don't have an excuse beyond him not being programed to be a father and learning from sitcoms.

YESSSSS, MURDER DRONES! I assure you that it gets better as the episodes go forward!

murder drones are basically a robot version of the vampire. This is a very fun show.

Each episode got a horror theme. The pilot was terminator vampire vibes. The second episode's theme is "the thing" so it's awesome

Honestly, if the first 3 episodes dont hook you, don't feel pressured to watch the rest. Episodes 2 and 3 definitely dives further in the themes (and done very successfully) that makes this series worth watching.
