"They accept evil not because they say yes, but because they don't say no."
-Sir Terry Pratchett,

What I don't like about the whole "we should be able to accept differences of opinion" is that it's innately hypocritical. Why is it okay for transphobes to be unaccepting of trans people, but the problem only starts when we're unaccepting of transphobes?

“We all have to learn to live together” YEAH. Thats what we’re trying to do over here, while jk is trying to erase us off the planet.

The gaslighting is insane.

Lithgow's statement recognizing the cost of what he is doing is very reminiscent to "Some of you will die... but that's a price I'm willing to pay."

I know a webseries producer/actor who years ago (I think soon after JKR first started tweeting transphobic stuff) was offered a brand deal for a Harry Potter product. She really needed the money and almost took it, but ultimately backed out because she didn’t feel comfortable supporting jkr. And I think about that every time a rich and famous celebrity decides to work on a Harry Potter project. If a struggling artist could say no to a brand deal before the extent of jkr’s harm was evident, famous people have no excuse for saying yes to work they don’t need now that jkr has explicitly stated that support for her work is support for her hate campaign

German historian here. It takes a long time for people of the entertainment industry to be regarded as complicit. Leni Riefenstahl got an award of the film industry 2002 and many prominent voices didn‘t saw a problem going to her 100th birthday. For those who don’t know, she was the favorite director of Hitler himself and responsible for many Nazi Propaganda pieces. Other Actors and directors are still not condemned today, even if their contribiution to Nazi Propaganda is extremly obvious. So you may be to optimistic about the destruction of his legacy.

Its laughable hearing Tom Felton say he is unaware of JK's horrid views when the actual stars of the movies have all come out publically against her. And all the other adults went in with their eyes wide shut.

How comfortable it must be to have the option to exist outside of the politics and how they affect people you clearly don't interact with anymore

Any actor involved in any Harry Potter production at this point, will absolutely be briefed by their agent, among others about this, and given talking points for it.

I know several millennial coworkers who claim to be allies, despite taking their kids to Universal Studios, specifically to go to Wizarding World, and when I bring it up they go "yeah, it sucks, just like Amazon :/" and proceed to not change a single thing about their behavior (including order cheap crap fro their kids every week on Prime)

And they wonder why I dont want to be friends outside of work 😅

"HP brings people together." What kind of people, though? 6:21

The fact the original golden trio Daniel, Emma and Rupert are all trans allies is the best. But fucking hell.

It's hard to separate Lithgow from Lord Farquaad's "Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" line. Sums his current attitude up very well.

Knightley acting like denying people basic human rights are just 'opinions' is revolting. Combined with the attitude, girl literally burned all her good rep in one fell swoop. Wild. (For real I have no seen anything about her online without seeing this thing brought up and people going eww in hordes.)

I've met Michelle Gomez when i worked backstage at a comics convention. she was one of the nicest celebs i dealt with. from what i could tell, when she's not hyperfocusing on work, she's watching anime.
when another celeb dropped out of judging our cosplay competition, she stepped in, and took huge interest, talking to people about their characters and complimenting their skits -she even flipped a few seams!
I absolutely believe that if there isn't an anime about it, she hasn't got a clue it happened, but she was very kind to all the people at our event, including the trans folk.

Whenever they say they're apolitical, they just mean that acknowledging the problems with Rowling would affect them financially (even though they're already rich).

Their hearts aren't filled with hate, but they're so indifferent, that they'll quietly follow the actions of people whose hearts are filled with hate.
It makes little difference in the end.

John lithgow may as well have said, "some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make"

I sometimes wonder if the people who say "Let's just meet in the middle" even ask themselves what is the middle ground between "We are real people and should be treated as such" and "You're not allowed to exist!". What could possibly be in the middle of that?
We are such a flawed species.
I don't know what else to say right now, except my usual "Stay safe and stay awesome", so... please stay safe and stay awesome. Peace and long life, Jessie 🖖

"we're all gonna have to learn to live together" she says dismissing the community that's being fucking genocided over those "different opinions" 🙄 maybe we aren't the ones who need to fucking learn how to live together, we ain't trying to strip the rights of others to just EXIST
