Yes! These unplugged performances are all absolute gems. Their talents shine, especially those incredible sisterly harmonies. Ale and her falsetto backing vocals are sublime
In my opinion, the test of a musician/band's talent is their ability to play acoustic sets. No auto tune, no enhancements. Either you can pull it off or you can't.
The great thing that has really endeared many of the original fans is that we got to watch them grow up playing in their Warning Cave. Dany used to during the pandemic have these midnight live streams where she would often sing with just the acoustic guitar it was wonderful and welcoming. We even got to watch a 2 hour video of Pau baking a cake, it was so entertaining that you didn't mind the fact that the cake did not look edible or that it took 2 hours it was just so much fun. How often do you get to see true rock stars actually grown up and learn right in front of you. The internet has many bad aspects, but watching the Warning from their very beginnings is one of the most incredible things about the internet.
The Warning have also inspired others to take up the mantle, Freeze The Fall a young band from Canada are really making waves of their own and they are really good. There are also twins sisters in Spain who idolize The Warning and have seen them 3 times, they are also making inroads to get into the rock scene, they are still young having only just turned fifteen but they are really good and show a lot of promise, their band is called Neyla, their father fills in on guitar as it is just the two of them, but it is great to see these young people picking up instruments because of The Warning. To check out Neyla check their youtube channel New Twins on the Rock.
I should also add that Freeze The Fall and Neyla are reactor friendly, they understand how important reaction channels are to getting music out there, just like The Warning (although UMG are now acting against The Warning's wishes) so if you have any issues with copyright, just email them and they will clear it no problem.
This was awesome hearing you talking about the old days growing up. It's s exactly what happened to me. These incredible young ladies have inspired me like The Beatles, later Fleetwood Mac, Heart ECT. Did Long ago they are that good!!!
BTW, this song is part of their second LP, which is a concept album. It has a storyline and character development. They played it in full a couple of times and you could see in Dany's body language as the performance progressed, how the bad character was taking control. She was 18 yo, which is awesome, showing that degree of complexity on stage at such young age
They were still indie at the time and their USA tour for that album was cancelled due to pandemic
Danys voice was really starting to to develop some power here. It’s great that you and a lot of us older music fans can reminisce about great times past and also appreciate how good these girls are. I get sick of some older rock fans saying there is nothing good anymore, as it shows that they are close minded and aren’t looking; otherwise they would know about these wonderful young ladies!!
Dany has said in the past that she puts a 10ms delay on her guitar feed and puts that out the other speaker. You might be interested in her Guitar World video where she talks about her favorite riffs off of their Keep Me Fed album. She has learned tricks (as have her sisters) how to make their sound huge.
I was part of a rock/dance band back in the 70's that practiced in my parent's garage. One Friday night we were rehearsing the setlist we were going to play the following night for a gig. We lived across the street of the county fairgrounds facing the grandstands and we knew there was a C&W concert set to start at 7 so we were trying to finish up before that so we wouldn't interfere with the event. We managed to finish up about 6:45. By then the grandstands were pretty full and when we hit the last, prolonged outro, the grandstands lit up with applause. Our lead vocalist, being a clown he was, got on the mic and ask the grandstands if that was for us, and it lit up again with applause. The next year we performed at the fair.
Years later, my girlfriend and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood and said Hi to a lady (about my age now) sitting on her front porch. She replied and then asked if I was part of that music group that used to play down the street. I said I was and she lit up saying she misses listening to us, She always had enjoyed the entertainment those nights.
Back to The Warning now, all three ladies are true performers, which many up-and-coming bands should watch and learn from.
or if you have the time they did a whole private acoustic show in the UK on May 29, 2023. It has really chill vibe, really casual. The video is 36 minutes long: https://youtu.be/PU2prXv_nV0
Dany, Pau and Ale transcend all generations of music. Every album they've released contains bits and pieces of Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Progressive, Pop, Folk and even Electronic. Someday I hope we can get Dany playing a sax solo on a record).
Their harmonies are gorgeous and even have brought me to tears, and it really is showcased here (and very much in Revenant). It pisses me off that every interview they've done no one asks them about their vocal training.
A four song acoustic set of songs from their second album “Queen of the Murder Scene”. These stripped away performances allow you to really appreciate the incredible three part vocals these young ladies possess.
This performance is only about four years removed from their viral cover of “Enter Sandman” in 2014. You can see and hear the tremendous growth and development they have made in this short time.
Very fun listing to you reminiscing back to the early days of rock and roll and how this The Warning song reminds you of how it was done back then. Maybe that explains some on why so many of us 60+ers are drawn to The Warning's music - it is nostalgic if some manner.
