Soto for the win. The Windmaster is worth every penny. I’ve had mine for 5 or 6 years and it is bullet proof, just a great stove

I have the Windmaster, it's the No1 stove in my opinion with Japanese quality.

Get the CampingMoon XD-2F.
Better than either & 1/3 of the price of the Windmaster.
I have both and it's the Windmaster that stays at home.
XD-2F + Triflex + FireMaple Petrel G3 is the combo of choice for water boiling.

Ernie, How about putting the Soto Windmaster against the Pocket Rocket Deluxe and the Pocket Rocket 2? I know the Windmaster will win but I’d like to see by how much. With wind and without. Thanks for another great review.

One big difference between the two is the flame color. The Toaks is much more orange than the Soto. Soto again for better combustion.

I purchased the Windmaster after your review. Viewing so many stoves was overwhelming, your presentation was excellent.
I carry stove in Toaks 1100mm pot. No problems. So much quieter then my very old 123&123r.

I have the Camping Moon copy of the Windmaster and I absolutely love it. Luke reviewed it and said that the Camping moon is actually better than the original. I like the non piezo igniter version, mainly because it's much shorter and seems more stable. I don't like stoves when they get too tall.

Thanks Doc for the comparison. I don't have the SotoWindmaster and my cheaper stoves suffer terribly in the wind as usually cook in the mountains above 8,000 feet and the wind always blows. It is a real problem to keep any stove lit.

The BRS 3000 never had an "efficient" reputation. It was made for just lightness.
Also, I think stoves are thought to be more efficient at 1/2 throttle...

Stopping at four tests? Cmon Ernie, you're having fun and we're all enjoying the series. How about comparing to the Soto Amicus or the Coleman canister stove? Camping Moon makes a really nice case they sell separately that I have been buying for many of my canister stoves.

The Soto Wind master is a great stove, so is the Camping moon XD-2F. I use both with Soto TriFlex pot stands, FireMaple Petrel G2 and FireMaple Petrel folding tables. Boils water in 1.5 minutes, stable.

Windmaster here, best canister stove for cold use. My gas burning trangia still beats it in windy situations. My opinion is, gear wise, go what feels good for your needs, no need to put extra money for weekend use. Cheers from Finland!

Triflex is appealing if every gram counts and will work with more pots (sit in the cut outs on heat exchanger pots) but the 4 arm pot stand is a lot more stable.
Love my Windmaster but I prefer to use the SOTO fusion trek remote stove, a Windmaster but not mounted on a canister. That’s not what this comparison is about though.
