Awesome detail about the car crash. Chigurh has convinced himself he's not just a hitman, but a personification of fate. He believes that if he is hired to kill you, it means that somewhere along the line, you committed an action that warranted it, whether or not you realized this at the time. But Carla's refusal to play into his coin toss and then being seriously injured by a random car accident is evidence that it's all bullshit.

The guys in the hotel room were definitly not innocent, they were Mexican Cartel dudes camped out in Llewelyn's first room waiting for him to come back.  They had a tracker too but couldn't find the bag and were waiting for Llewelyn to walk in. Instead they got Chigurh with a silenced shotgun ready to shoot first and ask questions later.

You know what, this movie is suddenly a whole lot better now that I'm not 8 years old and have no dick-kicking clue what's happening.

In the book, they show that he (Anton) actually does get the money, and he returns it and completes the job he was hired for lol

This one hits DIFFERENT.
The ambiance is immaculate without any background music or soundtrack. Suspense builds up quite nicely and the storyline respects its audience.

So $2,000,000 in 1980 would be about $8,500,000 in today’s dollars.

You two are some of the first reactors I have seen that understood how positive Ed Tom's dream was.

Fun fact: the actress who plays Carla Jean is from Scotland and has a pretty thick Glasgow accent in real life, as you might have seen from Trainspotting.

If anyone is wondering the time reference in this movie takes place in 1980

Not to knock on them other movies y’all been watching but these true true CLASSICS hit different and y’all gotta tap in just like THIS. The other shit on the poll is peak and I’m looking forward to that, KEEP IT UP YALL

This movie is such a forever kind of classic.

Anton Chigurh got the money. When Ed Tom Bell goes back to the motel where Llewelyn was shot, he (Ed) sees the vent is open, the screws and a coin left on the carpet, and we also see how the satchel scraped the dust off in the vent, like in the first motel. We know Chigurh found the money and not the Mexicans, because we've seen Chigurh open the first vent with a coin.

25:05 "innocent"?! Fam, buddy had a tec-9, nothing innocent about them! 😂

This movie (and the novel it's based on) is a deconstruction of the Western hero tale. Moss finds the money and takes it from the scene, but it's because of his guilty conscience that he goes back to deliver the water to the dying Mexican, and that good deed is immediately punished because he is identified immediately by the cartel and, later, Chigurh. If Moss hadn't gone back, he likely would've located the tracker if he'd gone through the money.

Furthermore, every single event afterward is a subversion of the traditional Western. Moss believes that he is facing off against Chigurh, white hat vs. black hat (down to their literal costume colours), but Moss forgets that he's not simply going up against Chigurh. He forgets about the cartel, and that's what bites him in the ass and gets him killed. You can't stop what's coming, as Uncle Ellis says to Sheriff Bell.

23:04 “that shit work better than Find My IPhone!” 🤣😂 Died laughing

This is a movie that gets better and better on each rewatch because you understand more. Props to you - you are one of the few reactors who immediately understood that the Mexicans killed Llewelyn.

If you did the math when Chigur said the coin was from 1958 and traveled 22 years to get there, you’d figure out it takes place in 1980.

27:00 - A lot of highrises have a missing "13th" floor due to the number being unlucky. It's also where they tend to put a maintenance level.

im SO SO SOOOOO SOOOO HAPPY yall watched no country for old men yall are some of my favorite reactors and i was beggin in the comments and discord for you to see this movie and im so happy you guys reacted to this 🫣 no country for old men is one of my favorite films of all time little fun fact for yall psychologists studied thousands of films and have said no country for old men with anton sugar has the most clinically accurate portrayal of a psychopath of any film

Everyone thinks Moss is the main character, even he does until the Mexicans corner him in that motel because he's just a man.
Anton thinks he's the embodiment of fate and death until he gets in that car accident and realizes he's as fallible and vulnerable as the rest of us.
If the Sheriff were younger, he'd have kept up with both Anton and Moss but he's not young. He could handle the job back then but not anymore, this is no country for old men.
