Watching this from a Panasonic viera TX-37PV70P. Found it at the recycling center last week. Works great, no issues or burn-in. In good condition too, 13000 work hours. Great video Allen and greetings from Bulgaria!
My parents had exactly this TV. It was a brilliant piece of kit. Unfortunately, it died from one day to the next a few years ago, without any warning. Still, it lasted over 15 years.
I had one of these, was glad to get rid of it - adequate picture quality, but power supply failure within 5 years, and the Fujitsu 50" 58ebb plasma I replaced it with was a massive upgrade in picture quality.
In 2009 I bought a LG 50PS3000 plasma for £684. It had a great picture although the shiny glass was a nightmare for reflections on the room I was in. Problem with the LG model was some power board failed after 14 months, it was replaced under warranty but failed again 4 months later so I ended up giving it away. As I said the picture was great, blacks were dark and the contrast to light colours was amazing. It used to heat the room though, standing near the screen you thought you were next to a radiator.
5:15 these are done at the factory, the pen marks are evidence the inspector has validated the caps have been fitted the correct way around by the assembly operator.
Highly regarded this model as it only has 1.2ms of lag, also a quality sound from this one. The boards are interchangeable btw. It will not of been that cap, it would've been that board that needed to be reseated in the connector.
The first Plasma TV I remember was a 42 inch JVC, more a big monitor than a TV as I don't think it had a tuner and I'm sure the resolution was only 480p, certainly not HD or even HD Ready as it was composite video and SD only via a BNC plug, no HDMI although I think it had a VGA input for a PC.
