I just learned the loop start after 50+ years of cross stitching. And IT IS a game changer.

I wish you did embroidery tutorials. I love how you explain things.

Maybe a topic for the future could be the different methods for personalizing or signing finished projects?

Thanks Ford! Finally someone said it. I had a long conversation once with a stitching friend trying to convince her that is not "illegal" to make a working copy of your pattern. Even though I am a quite experienced cross stitcher I do need that and I always mark off the stitches I've done! I don't know how people don't mess up their projects without doing that😊
Looking forward to your next video 🤩🧵🪡

Self taught from many moons ago. The loop start is amazing as well as parking stitches and using apps for patterns. Figuring out how to manage all the extra fabric is still my biggest headache as well as the hoop quality and well , most sadly, aging eyes.

This was great for starting cross stitch! Now can you do a video on “I’ve finished my project, now what?” I see lots of chatter in the Facebook group from seemingly new stitchers asking about the crease lines from hoops and how to get those out, debates on what type of washing soap to use on a finished project, how to actually wash a finished project (washing machine or hand wash), what the grime guards are for, framing in a hoop with ribbon or an actual frame. Can you go as basic as you did on this video about starting a project except for the end of a project?

It's also useful to have a copy when you have a dog, my puppy sometimes steals paper and chewed up a knitting pattern with my notes on it!

Thank you so much for these tips. You won't believe i didn't know which way the skein starts. Also tapping. Great!. Also the hoop. Thanks so much. Your tips ALWAYS helpful.

There is a right and a wrong side of the needle! Because of the way needles are made in the factory, one side of the eye will usually be slightly easier to thread than the other

Be careful what you drink when stitching. My first self taught lesson. I was drinking red pop and stitching with white thread, and using my lips to add moisture to thread my needle. My falcon had some pink feathers.... now I keep a tiny bowl of water next to me for moistening the threads. Same project, second lesson, add 6 inches to the fabric size so you can frame your work when it's done.

I just learned that I have been doing the Danish method and the loop start at the same time😅

Always enjoy watching and learning, thank you Ford!

I'm always looking where to pull the skein. After years I now know where it always starts!

@pattymoyers7771 7 months ago

I love stitching again because of the loop start. 🥰 There is also a loop finish and a loop start with your 2 strand left over piece. I learned it from watching confetti stitching videos. Maybe you could do a little more advanced stitchers guide to loop start and end. 🤔Thanks for sharing your time. ☕🪡

Would you do a video on tweeding or blending? Using blending filament with cotton floss or blending 2 cotton flosses, and also talk about how you recommend railroading blended threads (always the same R/L colors or random)

@carrollhopp4588 7 months ago

I always learn a new something from these videos--the loop start from the start is the best. I was putting my loop on the back and it did not hold as well. Thanks for making the videos short and useful!
