Thank you for your dedication to teaching people about screenwriting.

Having been a part of the Crucible I knew all of this, but occasionally, I need to hesr things from a different angle to truly comprehend.
This video was PERFECT in explaining the information given.
I have been writing scripts for several years, and have watched other channels, but they were not really helping.
The Crucible changed that. I now have scripts being sent out.
By coming back to watch Jake's videos, it's like a doctor doing continuing education.
Thanks again, Jake.
You're the best.

Based on this, I’m on Draft 3, Pass 19.  But seriously, that doghouse image will be very useful to keep in my head.

Thanks for drawing that clear line! My document with my latest script is called "Draft 4," although I now realize I'm still at Draft 1 because I'm polishing the story itself without working on dialogue details or individual scenes :)

The draft vs pass split is exactly the mental switch i needed named out loud, i always ruined my own drafting momentum by rereading for consistency mid-chapter. i ended up running the reread/consistency side through typeai after finishing a draft instead of during, and it's the only way i can actually just keep writing forward now.

Just finished draft 1.  The story works. Now I will do the first pass focusing on the arc of each character.

Story works. Scenes land. I‘m proud. Can’t decide what to do next, though. That’s why I decorate my doghouse with gold leaf. 😅

I'm on draft 3.

I don't do passes. I rewrite and rewrite until the story works, then I rigorously edit dialogue/action lines.

I've got a few weird questions: If I've created a solid story concept, can I sell it to a screenwriter or other person? If so, can I expect to remain involved for revisions, punch ups, etc? If so, what kind of writing credit am I owed? Or am I making you roll your eyes just asking about this? My point is, I know where my strengths are, and I want to collaborate to make great art. But I wonder if I'd be seen as a "bridezilla" of screenplay production. Am I way out of line for wanting to be involved in the capacity I've described?

I'm an actor, and a film fan, but an absolute novice when it comes to actually writing a screenplay (that is, I've never even looked into the actual "process"). But I have story concepts in my mind which I'd love to develop. I've made a single-page bullet point story outline which details what I think is a pretty solid and compelling story, but I don't think I'm the right person to flesh it out into a screenplay. However, I DO think I make helpful suggestions for revisions; I do it as an actor with trusted long-term collaborators, fixing things that are broken, or even taking something that's already good and making it even better.

Any thoughts on this from anyone else with experience would be appreciated. :)
