I worked in Ellesmere Port for just over 3 years from 1987 and the place felt like it was booming. Cheshire Oaks was under construction, the only shop I remember was a large Sainsbury's. The twice weekly market was one of the best in the region. It's so sad to see the extent of the decline.

I first came to Ellesmere Port 1969 worked at Shell for 47 years real hub of employment. I could never work out why no money was ever forthcoming for any real investment for the people  and children in the community, all i could see was a new indoor baths we had the Rivacre great but needed upgrading. all the biggest industries on our doorstep, but nothing given back to our community for our children we were cheated by the council the industries. The companies had clubs and Playing fields yes but only for employees and families , But the pollution that was being put out was ignored. Only my point of view.

Asda and Morrison’s shouldn’t have been allowed to have a chemist, newspaper shop, optometrist, post office inside these shops, killing off the arcade

People hate the council? BUT!!!!
The people working there are all local people wanting the best. I know that as fact. Their old offices were priced at 3x £££ to update, remove asbestos etc, bla, bla. That’s why they have new offices.
Would you work in a single glazed, asbestos ridden, cold or hot depending on month place that had been put last for so many years. Putting public first?
I don’t and didn’t work there but know people that do.
It was a 💩hole. Not fit for purpose, a health hazard also.
It’s central government that dishes the money out or should I say cuts it. Especially las 14 years of consistent demoralising cuts.
Told to cut services by CG ? They washed their hands and said council fault???? Do this? They then came back saying if you can cut that you can cut twice as much next year or we will reduce your budget 🤯14 years of it as billionaires got more and more tax breaks for tax they don’t pay 🤮.
Hopefully this will now stop 🙏

What you have forgotten to mention is Peakey blinders filming partially in boat museum along with house of Guinness. Both fantastic series.
Boat museum always has something interesting going on. I lived here 10 years plus now from not far away. It a great place
I still haven’t seen all the boat museum over multiple visits yearly. A year pass includes northwich also. The boat lift. (Wich btw is an old word for salt, this goes back to salt mines here in Cheshire Nant’wich’ etc)

Hopefully this helps clear up a lot of misconceptions about local government that is fighting with one or 2 hands tied behind their backs for a lot of years.
Hopefully billionaires will be forced to pay 1? Hopefully 2? % tax with an exit tax to stop their threats and stop 0.01% of people running this country for themselves that they have become accustomed to while pointing fingers and social media hate algorithms towards the poorest. To save this two back your have to vote for Rupert Lowe the only man who can save this country. You need a business man to run UK he would know what to do and how to get investments etc to help towns like this. There are many towns like this, however, looking at the buildings like that hotel I never seen a town so bad. The council there is must be very bad to allow this place to get into such a state.

You are living a lie if you think eport is a good place to live. 30 years i lived in the port, before moving to a bettter town, with friendlier less cagey people.

I noticed is that its got a huge amount of muslims live in it .
