Dinton Pastures parkrun is one of our favourites from a guiding perspective. It's pleasant, lovely volunteers, and feels like home. HOWEVER, when the words were uttered "we are back on the original course", our pre-race excitement turned to nerves - how can I possibly be guided around the mud?

Guiding is something that anyone can do if they can see and have awareness and are willing to just give it a go. 3-4 weeks ago I started running with a deaf-blind runner who asked me to “help out with the odd training run and maybe a race”. 3-4 weeks later we are now running together 3 times per week and both of us are loving it and he’s got 2 half marathons coming up, one of which I am now guiding him in.
This shows there are many out there who need assistance. You don’t know what you don’t know!
So, maybe take a step back from your own routine if you want to as there as many others out there who would love assistance getting into their own routine. Its an amazing experience – for both.
And finally we love talking to people afterwards, so come and say hello, especially on Park Runs which are in Rachael’s DNA!
