Spitballing ideas with my spouse made me realize my 5 YO’s birthday party, in our basement event room, was better planned, decorated, and executed than this ‘ball.’

Totally right. A simple refund doesn´t cover all the expenses.

the empty room is unavailable due to "technical difficulties"??? lmao

At least the Bridgerton ball thing had a solo violinist and a stripper

Damn. Even Dash Con had a ball pit and created a community to bond and laugh over the disaster.

I like how every year we just reinvent dashcon.

My wife had a similar experience with HallowRead in Elicott City. She was at the beginning of a difficult pregnancy when we drove 4 states away to attend the event. Despite receiving hundreds of 5 star reviews across both Goodreads and Amazon, we were struggling to get her name out there.

Exactly zero of the promises made were kept, and we were out hundreds of dollars that totaled our entire savings at the time.

People like this are absolute parasites and deserve no grace or quarter. While Hallowread was a disaster, this person's actions are likely criminal.

“Peace was not an option” made me laugh.

Wow. A ball in a giant room with bright flourescent lights, no music, no food, no decorations. This is worse than a junior high dance.

I love that this rundown has annotations and references. That's some good authoring.
Great coverage. Sorry you wasted your time and money.

I've got a ticket to the Jane Austen Ball in June and that cost £100 ($132), and that includes a meal with it.
Thankfully I know it's a highly anticipated event with a well organised company behind it.

I feel like there’s enough authors swindled here to warrant a class action lawsuit.  It’d be worth looking at.

I'm sorry you had to suffer through this. I hope you and other Authors are considering legal action. Whoever "organized" a debacle of this magnitude and cashed Deposits shouldn't just get to say "Oops sorry." And that be the end of it

The absolute scam artists who created this "event" should be sued.

Thank you for sharing this 🙏🏻 I agree that we need to be restored. I spent SO much to be there, flew in from Illinois, and it was my first book convention. What she did is not ok.

There’s an actual legitimate huge event called the Baltimore Book Festival that I hope does not get conflated with AML. I’m sorry y’all came to my city for such a disaster.

They're just missing the ball pit 🤣 fr sorry that happened it's horrible

Wow that is pathetic and so unprofessional . I saw one author say people showed up at her booth because they were told they could get two free books or whatever and she gave them all out because she wanted people to have a good experience. This person should be sued and held financially responsible for everyone who missed out authors and attendees both. So sorry that happened man.

You are amazing Perci. Love it when the Indie Author community comes together in support of each other.

Gurl, everybody is re-streaming  your series.  Came to give you your flowers.  New subbie.
