My r56 is running amazing at 120,000 miles - BUT its because I stay on top of it and do all of my own work.

I have an r53 myself. Recently had the whole drivetrain out and back in for a clutch repair. While out, I did the timing set, all gaskets and seals, minus the head gasket, new oil pump, water pump, serviced the supercharger, installed a 15% reduction pulley on it too, a larger radiator, cooling fan thermostat, thermostat, a larger intercooler, cv axles, all the engine sensors, all the mounts, and all the hoses. The bypass valve was also replaced. I figured since I had it apart for the clutch, I might as well address all the other things. It now has a 136,000 miles on it, 3500 on it since reassembly, and I drive it daily. Awesome car

My 2018 F57 25th Anniversar edition only had premature thurmostat housing failure at 30k miles, but everything else still a great car

My R56 Cooper D 2009 is going well at 220,000 Km. It has needed a new clutch, and I did the water pump and timing belt as a precaution while I had the engine out. As an amateur mechanic it took me days to do but it wasn't really all that difficult.

Got a 2004 R53 with the Chrysler 1.6 engine. Got 146,000 miles on it, burns no oil, original timing chain, and since I change the CVT transmission oil every 30,000miles I have managed to have the same transmission. I have had my problems with power streering pumps and radiators, cooling fans and the like, but nothing major. Love the car!

I own a 2011 cooper S going on 3years with no problems until a recent small oil leak and clutch slipping took it to bmw to repair the clutch kit and its gone worse then before so took it back to redo the job properly thus the 3 time its back in to bmw to get the job done. So its been 3week in the workshop so hopefully they repaird the issue

I have a minicooper clubman r55 2011 N18 engine, it is already reaching 200 thousand miles and does not use any drop of oil, it works perfectly and with a lot of strength and is automatic.

We picked up an 2010 R56 N18 Cooper S JCW 140k about 2 years ago. Since then we have replaced the valve stem seals, timing chain and guides, VANOS eccentric shaft and shaft motor, exhaust VANOS solenoid, cooling system expansion tank & crossover pipe, battery, alternator belt, high pressure fuel pump, water pump, coils + plus spark plugs, front brake rotors and pads. We currently have an airbag error to fix and other stuff to do including a central locking issue. But when the car is on the road... man it is a fun car. We purchased a comprehensive engine insurance when we bought it so a lot of the work we did not pay for except the excess. Would only recommend an enthusiast own one of these. I bought some tools so I can change the oil myself. Oil quality is critical in these.

The turbocharger in my 2007 R56 Cooper S lasted 175,000 miles. I think that is a good deal. I bought it new.
It had the HPFP, timing chain and tensioner replaced once under warranty.

I have owned two mini countryman and driven over 80k on them in the last 5 years. Absolutely bulletproof and flawless. Trust that 1.3 engine with proper attention and care will never let you down. Nothing breaks. These 175 bhp engine ones are better left alone. Just buy a countryman and it will serve you very well. All I spent on two motors is a servicing every 15k miles. One new battery and nothing else.

I have a '13 R57 I've owned since new. It has always burned oil, but it burns more now. That's fine though, with 140k spirited miles on it, it's earned it. I will rebuild the engine eventually with what should be upgraded parts. Maybe make a little more power if the transmission will handle it.

I spend a lot of money keeping it alive because I love it.

I have a 2007 R55 S Clubman with 205k kilometers. Timing chain was done with BMW recall action. The car doesn’t use a single drop of oil

The F56 started at 2014 btw. And the B42 2.0 engine is supposed to be one of the most reliable engines around, the only issue it's said to have is the oil pump/filter housing issue. This sounds more like an AD to buy a 2022 than anything else.
