very much enjoyed this video truff, keep editing like this and you'll be in prison

TL;DW summarization: Ignorant and pretentious people who either don't watch or pay attention to the show want to believe that KoTH is maliciously satirizing white middle class conservative America really hard so they accuse normal people of being too stupid and unaware to see the subtle and biting satire, all the while it really isn't, and the show plays on established tropes and stereotypes because it's an animated sitcom.

It's interesting to see how quickly "empathetic" redditors turn on the poor as long as they vote differently.

KotH is the difference between making jokes about people you know well vs making jokes about people you hate.

As a Native American, John Redcorn is my biggest opp, he has single handedly refuelled Native American on Native American racism within me.

KotH was an affectionate satire.  It poked fun at its subjects, but it was never mean spirited, and it celebrated the virtuous aspects of its characters just as much as it made jokes about their absurdities.

Wait I just realized; King of the Hill are one of the few comedy shows where continuity mattered and where the status quo did change.

As a blue collar southerner, I never got the sense that the show hated people like me, yeah it made jokes and poked fun at our expense, but never in a mean spirited sort of way. It always felt to me like a show that cared about  the people in it and who they represented and tried to demonstrate that they as human as any other, with both good, bad, and even funny things about all of them.

“You can’t make fun of someone and have contempt for them at the same time, it just doesn’t work as a joke”
-Norm Macdonald

Saying King of the Hill is an anti-conservative show is like saying The Boondocks is an anti-blacktivist show. It's not looking at the whole picture and only looking at the parts they agree with.

People too often mistake the ability to laugh at one's own expense for a lack of media literacy.

KotH is a prime American cartoon. As someone who lived in rural southwestern and urban northeastern environments, I've met people like Hank who don't let what traditions they associate with their identity interfere with being open-minded and I've met people like twig boy who are insufferable and exhausting to be around despite their progressive personality. I think it's a fault to pin the show as being "for the conservatives" or "for the liberals". I think the show is accessible to those that have been around Hanks, Dales, Bills, Boomhauers, Khans, Peggys, Luannes, etc. and can have a giggle that, yup, these characters remind us of the people and place we reside at that we, hopefully, love.

I live in the general area that Arlen, TX is based from, and I can verify this show is 100% accurate. I think the revival is just going to continue to reinforce the idea that people can be sincere, be total caricatures, and also be giant hypocrites, all at the same time.

I don't think KoTH is about mocking the southern WASP exeprience outright, but it definitely pokes fun at the idiosyncracies in that way of life, in a way that should tickle anyone with southern baptist family or who's ever had to live in Texas. Growing up I had cousins who weren't allowed to play videogames or read Harry Potter. My mom's side wouldn't let my dad's side christen me because it would, quote, "instantly send me to hell for pagan worship". KoTH pokes fun at these people, but it's not a cruel hit-piece like people on Twitter say it's supposed to be. Judge lived in Texas for many years and a lot of the show's premise is based off of his real-life experience, which is OBVIOUS if you know any Texans. I think this is just a re-justification so that radicals don't feel cognitive dissonance for watching and enjoying the show.

While Judge clearly makes fun of ideas and the people those ideas represent (libertarian conspiracy nuts in Dale, the bootstraps fundamentalist conservative Hank as good examples), but the characters can just as much be genuine and whole people with three dimensions and plenty of fluff. Just like real life. They're character studies of Texan archetypes; the show is about wholly digesting that southern experience, the good and the bad and the ugly. It's a love-letter as much as it is satire.

I've always felt that KotH was the last truly bipartisan show. What I loved and continue to love is that it was never afraid to point out stupid things on either side of the political spectrum but never outright villainized either side either. The main cast were all human.

I really hope the revivial carries this feeling, as cliche as it sounds we need it now more than ever.

still the greatest anime to this day

As a very conservative, traditional person, I always appreciated how this show poked fun at everyone in a good natured way.

Reddit is a terrible source of information to gauge literally anything

As a liberal from an east coast city I greatly enjoy King of the Hill. It makes fun of people across the political spectrum and that acts to the show’s benefit. Hank is a relatable protagonist even if I don’t personally have much in common with him.

Some people cannot grasp the fact that that people can laugh at something that made fun of them. "Its making fun of you! Why are you laughing?" "Because its fun and funny."
