The Shaggs were ahead of their time, or maybe really behind. Either way, they were not in time.

I am surprised Yoko Ono did not make the list. I guess she is so bad that its not considered music.

The Legendary Stardust Cowboy was playing grindcore before grindcore even existed.

9:39 It turns out the Stardust was cocaine... 😂

The story of The Shaggs is even crazier than you yet know.
Their paternal grandmother was a palm reader and psychic, and she predicted that her granddaughters would form a band and became world famous rock stars. So their dad, her son, set out to make it happen. He pulled his daughters out of school and made them take music lessons, and then booked a recording studio when he decided they were good enough to record their debut album. Then he found a fly by night record label that would press 1000 copies of it, though he had to pay them to do it.

Well the label went out of business and the owner disappeared with the money and 900 Shaggs albums. And that was the last anyone heard of them until Frank Zappa got his hands on one of the few surviving copies of Philosophy of the World. He loved what he heard in a weird, outsider way, and the Shaggs took off from there.

The best description for the Shagg's song I've ever heard was "it sounds like 3 different people playing 4 different songs"

The Shaggs. Wow. They cemented their place in music history by creating music that can't be diluted by being replicated. The lack of timing is so insane, no one could intentionally cover it. Brilliant !

'Philosophy of the World' is to music as 'The Room' is to movies. Both have a 'so bad it's good' cult following

(10:50) Fun Fact: MacArthur Park was the song "Weird Al" Yankovic parodied & turned it into "Jurassic Park".

"Philosophy of the World isn't bad, it's Avant-garde, way ahead of it's time" - The Shaggs, probably.

6:33 their father wouldn’t let them listen to other music, or even learn musical knowledge. They didn’t even know what rhythm is.

Fun fact Richard Harris was mostly known for being a actor, most notably he played Dumbledore in the first 2 Harry Potter films before he past away

These songs are "alt prog jazz-core", You mere mortals wouldnt understand

Hears the legendary stardust cowboy once
"is this country core?"

“You got Shagged” should become the new Rick Roll!!

"YouTube automatically thinks I'm gonna need medication after this." lmao

You’ve gotta realize that The Shaggs actually WERE playing instruments against their will

How can they say the "Chicken Dance" is one of the worse songs. Back in my day it was played at every wedding. Well they normally waited till everyone was half in the bag to play it. Hahahahahaha. Good times. I actually like the MacArthur Park song. Used to listen to it in my younger years quite often. "Someone left the cake out in the rain .I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it ,and I'll never have that recipe again Oh no!" LMAO. Not sure who came up with those lyrics though. Great video Steve. I can think of lots of other songs that need to be on that list. Love ya.
