Could Komodo Dragons Survive the Triassic?
The Triassic Period was ruled by powerful predators and massive reptiles—but what if a modern apex predator, the Komodo dragon, was thrown into this ancient world?
Armed with venom, stealth, and a powerful bite, could it adapt and hold its own against rauisuchians, early theropods, and prehistoric giants? Or would it be outmatched in a world it was never meant to see?
Join us as we explore whether the Komodo dragon could survive in the age of the first dinosaurs.

Komodo Dragon evolving to Tidal Dragon be like:
"Reject Lizard,Return to Mosasaur"

@NCRRangerNo.34 1 year ago (edited)

So in this world, mosasaurs,tree monsters,and megalania evolved way earlier then real life

Good video but a couple of small critiques.

First one is, i think it would be better to pick a particularl time during the Triassic. Including essentially the entire Triassic pierod basically adds an extra layer of challenge in findings a good niche for the Komodo dragon to fit into.

Since we have a less full view of most Triassic ecosystems i don't think it would be fair to also choose a spesific place but at least a specific time to drop a creature in i think would greatly help, otherwise its like putting something in the Cretaceous and saying it has too compete with Rex Giga Acro and Spino all together.

The other smaller critique is with Komodo social behaviors. While they dont for coordinated groups it is well documented that adults form loose mobs when killings larger prey. So while not very cooperative animals they certainty are not solitairy.

Otherwise i felt like it was a good vidro, ill probably even subscribe and see what you have in store next.

So introducing komodo dragons to the Triassic means we get mosasaurs earlier.

I wonder how the Great Horned Owl would do in the Jurassic era

Sugestion to video: Could the Future Predator from Primeval survive in Fallout universe?

Here’s one; what if dragons were real animals? What happened to them and how did they evolve into so many species? And above all, what were the secrets behind their legendary weapons?

@Houndmaster3665 1 year ago

Komodo venom is broken as shit, one bite and that wound wont close leading to infection. And being sick for any animal in the wild drops their survival chance like a stone

Im sorry but your pronunciations of ceolophysis and herrerasaurus are just so wrong, these are really well known genera too. Also ceolophysis is a pretty well known cannibal.

I think that a video about killer whales surviving in the subnautica oceans could be very interesting

@HansOchoa-l3j 1 year ago

Btw komodo dragons already look like there from the triassic

@keithcole8536 1 year ago

If it took the ocean it wouldn't lose venom

Ngl, this was a nice video. Though, even outside of the parthenogenesis, I was surprised with this other factor that could’ve helped the Komodo Dragons, imo, wasn’t mentioned: That they are not an island-made species at all, but are descendants of ones that reached the islands from the main continent of Australia, known in the Pleistocene (when Komodo’s first evolved) as Sahul. Even better was how they and Megalania are so closely related, so anything Megalania had could’ve helped Komodos if they became bigger. Other than this, this was a nice video. (Though my main question is this: Can any of their Spec-Evo descendants or even the original species survive the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event, based on the research you found? (As well as possibly from the info that I just shared if you didn’t know before?))
Also, for a suggestion, I would like to see if Zalmoxes (just an example of a small herbivorous dinosaur with plenty of Spec-Evo potential, imo) could survive in Paleocene or Eocene Europe. (I originally thought the Messel Pit formation, but then decided it could be more interesting (as well as give a better assessment, imo. As well as potentially more info for research) to do Tropical Europe in the Paleocene or Eocene. That, or Early Miocene Europe. (Still tropical, but I’m between the three epochs not because of climate, but because Europe’s geology. (Though, if it helps, Rhabdodon is a giant descendant of Zalmoxes, and this was when Europe was islands, so a giant descendant of Zalmoxes in a continental Europe setting is definitely possible. Again, if this helps.)))

I really enjoy these videos, and can't wait to see what you cover next!

Also, Coelophysis is pronounced "see-low-figh-sis".

Komodo Dragons are my favorite animals in the World due to their immediate resemblance to Dinosaurs and them evolving to live in the Triassic Period suits them perfectly!

Love the use of Ark’s fasolasuchus for the thumbnail

they actually chase down prey and run very fast

I still vividly remember the video I found on Facebook about komodo digging grave & eating fresh corpse uncensored, I thought it's just myth at first but after watching that video I never look at komodo the same way again
