Watching from Trinidad and Tobago. Was in Madrid n Barcelona in August. Stayed at a hotel in Gran via in Madrid n at Marriott in Barcelona. I enjoyed my trip to Spain to the max.
The party there is "La verbena de la paloma", and the drink is "Limoná madrileña". Other common ones are tinto de verano, vermú, sangría and of course beer. During the fiesta, local bars are allowed to sell in the streets. Nice video there.
It's in the centre of the peninsula so it has extreme temperatures. In winter is very cold. The statue represents the fallen angel in Retiro Park. I'm from Barcelona but we all know what is the retiro.
This looks like La Fiesta de la Paloma in the Lavapies and La Latina barrios (I used to live there back in the day). Notice the women with flowers in their hair and the traditional costumes.. The streets aren't usually like this with open bars, just for the week of the fiesta. The fiesta's held in August which explains why there were a lot of places closed. Glad you had a good time. Come back soon - this time with a hotel with A/C
Oh cool you stumbled upon a festival. That Orange and wine sounds like a drink called Agua de Valencia thats made with fresh orange juice and Cava ( sparkling wine) maybe in Madrid it has a different nane..... each region is very prond of their local cultures in spain.
