This album is extremely underrated, in my opinion.

Metal came before rap, guys.

Highly, highly recommend All Nightmare Long and Suicide & Redemption from this album. Both longer than this one, both throwbacks.

From the same album: Metallica - All Nightmare Long

Metallica gets what it like to be infantryman. They're music past and present has always been honest about the horrors of war and those that suffer it's aftermath.

This album is James best riffing since justice

Song doesnt really have anything to do with the video, but musically it fits. Just listen to the song on its own, and listen to the words. One of my favorite songs from Metallica

The movie First Blood says it, the kid came asking if he could shine shoes and the box was wired so you basically can't trust anyone in war zones. And this song kinda has the same skepticism and thats why they don't trust the people in the end until they finally do, what I see it as, is remember if you shot 1st you would have killed innocent people that just needed help with their car. There are still good people out there

13:50 that riff and beat is so sick

The lack of an ending reflects the tension soldiers feel in these situations, no matter how innocent it seems. And the fact we were still waiting on the bullet taking the soldier out at the end helps us empathize how they feel all the time. We get a snapshot. They live it.

The brilliance of the song and the video is the tension building as the song progresses . The Day That Never Comes is meant to be each day is a reminder of your own mortality. The day that you’re in could be the last day of your life and the deathclock is ticking.

The looks on your faces at @12:18 is a picture!

This is one of the best post-black album songs from Metallica. The structure reminds me of One. Starts slow and build to a fast ending.

Powerful video. Imagine your buddy/teammate gravely wounded by people that look like the people in that car. You send him off with medics, not knowing if he's alive or dead. You immediately head back on patrol and end up in this situation... maybe minutes later! Our warriors have to have compassion, restraint, and the ability to be savage at the same time. God bless them.

All Nightmare Long legit one of their best songs

Absolutely love this song!!

Not about revenge...more about the fact that the danger didn't come, on this day, but on another day, the "day" could have come. This is what veterans faced over there on a daily basis...scary as shit.
