Hello and welcome to Scale Stuff, In this weeks video I am going to be building and painting the Airfix Vintage Classics 1:76 scale Stug III 75mm assault gun. Kit number A01306V.

In this video I build this old school model kit from start to finish and give a few tips on how to get a good finish out of this model.
I also go over a few bits that I had trouble with when building this kit so you need to have the same problems.

I really enjoyed building this little assault gun its always nice to revisit some of the classic kits despite some of the problems that they have.

No, I don't need another Airfix vintage classic on my build list, or so I tell myself.

When I built this kit I stapled the tracks together,well tidy build..

as a kid i used to put the track to gether then heat a knife up and melt the 2 pins down and over

With the old Airfix kits it used to say " locate and cement part x to part y" as well as show you in an diagram.

There is something satisfying about building an Airfix kit. Just some good old nostalgia fun.

The common thread with YouTube channels building Vintage classics, is they remember, these models are often as old as boomers :) I have a Dragon Stug III increeedible modern model. But it won't be any more fun than this one really.

That looks very nice! It's a better model than I expected with some nice textured detail moulded on. For the price it's quite a bargain. Thanks for pointing out all the tricky bits to look out for 😊

1:22 With the old Airfix kits, you just assemble[d] the parts in order of number.

well i decided to risk it, i ordered the panther and stug. I'm into airfix planes recently, and I try to avoid ancient kits... But I must say, with a nice paint job, it looks very nice, and is inexpensive... I also like that airfix clearly markets these as "vintage classics" - I hate how heller or revell are still selling very old kits full price and you have check scalemates to try and find something modern...

Thanks for this. I'm building one now, and your advice was was useful, because I put the gun into the top part of the hull as you suggested. What glue did you use to stick the tracks on?

Great job all round , with Stugs you can use various Cammo patterns and can be German or Finnish .

The original was made with shiny dark-green plastic which was horrible to paint. You were also lucky the tracks fitted, they often shrank while in storage.

Built one of these when I was a young lad. just a recommendation with the tracks on old kits, I’ve always stapled them together and then gently hammered them flat to keep its realism, even better if part of the tracks are covered. overall Brilliant build and keep up the wonderful effort!
