What happens when AI starts learning from other AI systems? And could quantum physics help us build more secure communications?

Professors of Mathematics Roger Colbeck and Yasser Roudi present on the ground-breaking research accomplished through their careers.

🎤 Professor Roger Colbeck - From fundamental quantum physics to future-proof cryptography

Entanglement is one of the most counter-intuitive features of quantum theory. It gives rise to correlations that seem to be in conflict with causation. Roger discusses how these correlations – whose existence was demonstrated in Nobel-prize winning experiments – are not just of foundational interest, but act as a crucial ingredient in new forms of cryptography.

🎤 Professor Yasser Roudi - Mathematics of Intelligence

In his career, Yasser has worked on intelligent machines and the brain both as a physicist, using statistical mechanics and the theory of disordered systems to understand how large networks compute, and alongside experimental neuroscientists. He traces that path and shows how mathematics developed to describe magnetic materials also describes the neural network architectures now driving AI.
