This year, I wanted to approach Halloween decorating a little differently.

Instead of packing away all of my fall decor and starting over with something dark and traditionally spooky, I decided to build onto what I already had and create a softer, more magical Halloween look inspired by Practical Magic.

We’re layering in crows, candlelight, witch-hat napkins, rich fall foliage, earthy colors, spell-inspired details, a simmer pot with apples, oranges, cloves and warm spices, and plenty of little movie-inspired touches throughout the living room, dining room and kitchen.

The goal was to create a home that still feels warm, collected and unmistakably fall — just with a slightly mysterious, bewitched layer added on top.
