I think the Light Temple almost certainly would have been the final dungeon before Ganon's Castle and the darkness puzzles would have been a major part of that dungeon.

Also if you look closely at the shot of the great fairy in the remake trailer it's almost definitely showing her giving Link Din's Fire.

11:00 I like the idea of this spirit ability functioning like the Command Melody from Wind Waker. You can scout ahead with Navi, but no sequence breaking.

New usable spells could be a great way to add additional optional challenges. Maybe we'll be able to get an enhanced boss rush mode where you'd get to use discarded items. A blazing king dodongo would be an amazing use for the ice arrows! 🔥

11:52 Actually we do have enough evidence to confirm position of the Light Medallion in the roster. File select shows the original order, with the light medallion at the end. Text from the 1997 demo also has Rauru's text stating he barely had enough power to return Link to the Temple of Time and to find the sages. There was supposed to be a light dungeon but they ran out of time due to switching to matrices in 1998 for NPCs, so Zelda was supposed to give you the light medallion after you beat the other temples and take the place of Rauru as the light sage. There is even old cutscenes that show this from the gigaleak. Its actually very close to the final version we got, but instead of light arrows we got the medallion.

I always thought it would have been cool to expand z-targeting where you could use Navi as an ability to distract enemies like if you were not in sight you could use Navi to fly over and get enemies to look or walk over to her so link could sneak by them or surprise attack them.

Your description of the Spirt Medallion spell sound like a call back to Zelda 2: Link's Adventure. There was a spell that turned him into a fairy and allowed him to slip through keyholes and fly.

The Navi spell could of been used to reach that extra heart piece above the Gerudo prison.

Quick note: The idea of arrows being used to transform enemies isn't entirely gone from the game. Some enemies, like Keese, will always drop purple rupees when killed with a Light Arrow. If the Spirit Medallion had a transformation theme, perhaps that function could have been planned for Spirit Arrows.

While its always cool to see what the beta game could have looked like, we wouldnt get them back in the remake. We've already seen the inventory screen and the equipment screen and there's clear slots for every item we already know, no room for anything new like this

Many of the ideas used in these spells seem to have been from early in the development cycle. They were replaced by (or reused as) other challenges and puzzles.

The problem lies with adding 3-6 new potential tools to Link's kit without either taking away from the original items, or turning the new ones into one-trick ponies.

Although I think there's a possibility that they could assign the 3 existing spells to the corresponding medallions and add in 3 new spells for the remaining medallions, I highly doubt they'd have enough ideas (and places to use them) to accommodate 3 new trick arrows on top of that.

The simplest way would be to keep the 3 original spells mostly as-is and assign them to Forest/Fire/Water, then use Shadow for an invisibility spell, and Spirit for scouting ahead, much like the Beetle from Skyward Sword. The Light spell could work just as you described it, bearing some similarity to the light puzzles in Majora's Mask.

I'd be quite happy with just a new Light Dungeon, though, with the Light Arrows being your key dungeon item. It could be the penultimate dungeon, instead of just being given the Light Arrows at that point, and the Sheik reveal could be your story reward. :)

Interestingly, moving abilities to medallions would make them non-optional and more closely tied to the dungeon order.

i imagine the spirit arrows would be a little more restricted. “shoot this type of specific object to make it sentient and take control of it in a dungeon”

The abilities could all very well come back, and maybe raplace the Forest and Fire apility with a new one, since those powers have returned as 2 of the goddesses spells.

A light temple would be so awesome

i do hope with the next legends of zelda game we'd get a magic system so we can use some magic  with our weapons and gear along with a way to heal ourselves with magic than only just with potions and food but those are great too
